Product Description

It's the end of the road for Matt and Lauren Silver's tempestuous marriage. Matt is away from home - again. But their daughter Freya is so emotionally scarred that no one can reach her. No one except Sam Cobb...a man struggling with his own demons. When he reluctantly enters their world he brings hope. Sydney author.

From the Author

Dear Reader
We can't survive alone in this world. We are not built that way. We need love and support from those around us, and we must recognise that we need these things if we are to survive. We must learn how to ask for them. It is not an easy lesson.

REDEMPTION BLUES is a book about people who must learn that lesson under the most brutal circumstances. About people who are forced to do so by a dreadful tragedy which throws all their lives into turmoil.

People ask me what kind of a book REDEMPTION BLUES is. I know I should have rehearsed a slick answer by now, something clever and amusing and witty. But I cannot seem to come up with one. I find myself saying REDEMPTION BLUES is part romance, and part psychological drama, and part thriller. Or - worse still - I find myself defining it by what it is not. One of its main characters is a police officer, but it is not a police drama. Another is a rock star, but it is not a sex-drugs-and rock'n'roll story. Yet another character is a tragically bereaved mother, but it is not a family saga.

Let me put it like this: REDEMPTION BLUES is the story of Matt Silver, a man who has everything, but makes the fatal mistake of trying to take out of life more than he puts in. In the process he ruins himself and devastates the lives of all the people he loves. REDEMPTION BLUES is also the story of his wife Lauren, shattered by grief and loss, struggling to find the will to carry on for the sake of her surviving daughter. And it is the story of Sam Cobb, the policeman who must try to make sense of this tragedy - and seek some solace for his own pain.

However you define this story - and ultimately it is you who must define it - for me REDEMPTION BLUES is simply the best book I know how to write. My private hope is that when you have read it you will not feel the need to assign it to any particular category. Except one, that is: the all-important category headed 'damned good book'.

Thank you for considering REDEMPTION BLUES.

This is an excellent book, I read it this month June 2008.
Within the book it is said that he was working on his second, but all my searches on him come up with zilch.
What a waste of talent if he decided one novel was enough

Silver is a fabulously talented but troubled musician who has been on the road for almost all his adult life, neglecting his wife and kids in the process. After a Christmas gig in Paris he decides enough is enough and leaves the tour early to be with his family and finally settle down. His wife has other plans. She has had enough and is about to tell him just that. In an alcohol-fuelled daze, Silver grabs his twin daughters and storms out of the house. The ensuing tragedy, investigated by high-ranking police officer Sam Cobb, himself struggling with personal and emotional trauma, leaves Silver overcome with guilt. The story then skilfully weaves around Silvers survival and experiences as a nobody, Cobbs' attempts to prove Silver is dead and Silvers distraught wife. The story unfolds as their lives become intertwined with each of them trying to rid themselves of their demons. A great read with a wonderful twist that will keep you enthralled until the last sentence.
