don't miss out 30 Sep 2005
No, not the Tamzin Outhwaite post-Eastenders vehicle,
but John Thaw's pre-Sweeney offering, as he stars as
John Mann, a special investigator for the Royal
Military Police. It really is a quite compelling drama
series despite it creaky 1964 black and white telly
origins. It's also supposed to be set in far flung
places across the world, but doesn't seem to leave the
london studio, and there's elements of Z-Cars type
villany to behold too. Thaw himself looks no older
than 12, and is years away from his portrail of the
brash boozy belter, Regan. Worth a gander for familiar
faces and dialogue driven drama, if nothing else

Redcaps is very well written, touching a wide range of topics- some of them taboo at the time. Redcaps also shows what a fine actor John Thaw is-his sergeant is very much a dour army man, very different from Regan or Morse.
