More About the Author

Hi!

I am Maggy Woodley and I am half Austrian, half Spanish, living in the Uk. I like to think of myself as an "European". I love all this crafty and I love all things arty. I love exploring and trying out new things. I write over at http://www.redtedart.com and share lots of crafty ideas for you there.

I have to lovely young children - my son (aka Red Ted) and daughter (aka Pip Squeak). Red Ted loves making things from "junk" and drawing. Pip Squeak adores painting and getting messy and she is just like her mum... I adore sitting down with them and getting crafty - drawing on my own childhood crafting memories and creating new ones.

I am passionate about seeing the value in "old things" and creating new things from the. Making crafting fun, pretty and economical and great for the environment.

Crafts is certainly big in our house and our kitchen dining room looks like a craft workshop!

I love making friends' birthday cards (when I remember!)as well as little homemade gifts. Nothing more special than something handmade!

In Spring I grow tomatoes and other vegetables (with varying degrees of success). In Autumn I make green tomato chutney. And I like baking Austrian cookies at Christmas. You will find me munching these during the Advent period with my nose stuck in a good book!

I am not a crafty parent; I leave all that to nursery. But Red Ted Art has always made arts and crafts an accessible activity making up for my lack of talent. Each craft in the book is explained in an easy to follow step-by-step process and the colourful and useful pictures makes it all come alive. If my daughter ends up with even one once of talent more than me; it will have been down to this book and other helpful ideas on redtedart.com

Gorgeous book of crafts. I am not usually very crafty, but I love doing things with my five year old daughter. We made a stick man and little walnut mouse together that my daughter was so proud of that she took them to "show and tell" at school. I loved how easy they were to make. I look forward to exploring the "bigger" projects too and can see this book coming in handy for many years to come (some of the crafts I may just do myself!!)

This is a wonderful book for anyone wanting to craft with their kids. Fun cute ideas the whole family will love and made from household objects so it won't cost a fortune. I'm buying this as end of year presents for all the teachers. Simply lovely

This book is so utterly brilliant that I took it into school to show the teachers in nursery and reception and year 1 and they are going to purchase it too

I love this book! It's full of lots of wonderful craft activities and they are so simple for the kids to do. I like the fact that the pictures and instructions are really clear, and the children can use it with very little help, though the activities are so much fun I can't resist joining in! It would be a great present for families with young children - I think I will be buying a few more copies :-)

This is a really lovely book. The projects are easy enough for my six year old son to enjoy but engaging enough for my 16 year old daughter to also want to join in (I have had great fun with it too). So far we have made a sock monkey, a glove owl, juggling chickens and are halfway through a toilet roll marionette sausage dog.

Red Ted Art shows the process step by step of fulfilling a vision. What's better, the crafts are so easily set to a broader theme: make a set of Greek God clothes pin puppets, a Little Red Riding Hood Marionette, nursery rhyme loo paper roll characters, Alice in Wonderland puppets ...

Gorgeous to look at and beautifully written, your kids will love looking at it as much as you. Fantastic value for truly inspirational ideas.
