As another reviewer has mentioned, Red Star (originally released on 11th November 1977, in the year of punk) was Showaddywaddy at their peak.
At this time, the band were in the middle of their run of consecutive top 10 hit singles, but rather surprisingly the album only got to number 20. It still attained "Gold" status though!
The original release contained the singles, "When", "You Got What It Takes", and "Dancin' Party" which were all top 5 hits in 1977, and the CD reissue contains further singles "A Little Bit of Soap", "I Wonder Why" and "Pretty Little Angel Eyes", which were all also top-5 hits in 1978, and which makes this much like a greatest hits album than a standard LP!
The album tracks here are just as strong, and the original '77 LP featured seven self-penned songs and six cover versions, further proving that Showaddywaddy were much more than just a covers band.
The reissue contains a whopping 21 tracks and is well worth a purchase, and easily gets a 5 star rating.
