A good read 6 May 2001
Format:Paperback
I first bought this book as a result of a half forgotten review in a magazine.Dave Cunnane is based in Manchester and along with his secretary and on/off girlfriend Delise operates Pimpernal investigations. The story starts with the seemingly straight forward commission to find a missing poor little rich girl but Cunnane soon finds himself fending off most of Manchester's underworld and dipping various bodyparts in to the clubscene, and if anyone needs to dispose of a couple of corpses it would seem Dave's your man!I really enjoyed Leans first published novel which has a real twist at the end.His characters are well drawn ,Cunnane is just flawed enough to be realistic and the plot moves along with real pace.I can't help but wonder why with the current turgid television detectives has no one moved Dave,Delise and co on to the small screen.

This is the first Frank Lean book that I read and left me hungering for more. Unfortunately, his books are not easy to get hold of. This book sees PI Dave Cunane investigating a seemingly bog-standard missing persons case when a teenage girl is reported missing by her parents. However, he soon discovers that all is not as it seems as he becomes embroiled in a seedy underworld and as the body count piles up... he's not just searching for the girl, he's trying to stay alive. Very twisty and enjoyable, with very real characters.
