Format:Blu-ray
I bought the DVD version at the Red Piano Concert in Manchester in December 2008 and the Blu-ray from Amazon afterwards. The picture quality is a bit grainy due to being filmed indoors but the Blu-ray is much better quality than the DVD. On the Blu-ray being able to interactively switch between the concert and the background films is excellent (On the DVD the concert and background films are on separate discs). The DVD version has a bonus disc CD of the songs but if you are primarily buying to watch the concert then Blu-ray is the way to go. If you have a surround sound system then the 5.1 tracks on both DVD and Blu-ray are excellent and give an experience which is as close to being at the concert as possible. NOTE: You have to select 5.1 sound in the menu as stereo is the default setting - I think this might be why Cineman (see other review) is disapointed with the sound. The concert itself is excellent with lots of visual stuff going on as Elton sings a selection of his hits. As you may know this concert was originally put together for Las Vegas and played there exclusively for about 3 years. The best concert I have been to and a Blu-ray / DVD which does it justice.

Good gig and very special show, however I thought the picture quality for HD was some what poor.
Having only a few blu ray discs its hard to judge, anyone else got any thoughts.

Not HD sound. 24 Feb 2009

I should have paid more notice and read the other reviews. The picture quality is not brilliant, mainly due to filming in the dim light of a concert. My real gripe was the sound - or rather the lack of it. I watched the BD music trailers advertising the wonderful HD pictures and sound. It really did sound fantastic in DTS HD Master Audio 5.1. Then the concert starts and I suddenly notice a drop in sound quality, looking at my Amp I see I am now listening to Uncompressed PCM Stereo (albeit sneakily disguised and "All Channels Stereo". Nowhere on the box does it tell you this, just that the disc contains HD Master Audio and the PCM Stereo. I feel conned and will be very, very careful before I buy any BD Music discs again.
