A retired CIA operative called Paul Moses is suddenly being targeted by a new CIA director for the things he did in his past. He suddenly finds himself fending off assassins as he goes from retired (Green) to active (Red).

The fantastic Warren Ellis does a tremendous job of writing an enthralling revenge tale. Moses shows that despite being old that he is far from useless as he kills his way to the top to take down the CIA Director who ordered his retirement be called off.

It's a very short read as it was only a 3 issue run originally but even so you can see why Hollywood read it and thought there was a film there. In the book it's just one retired hitman Paul Moses (Bruce Willis in the film) but in the movie there's a whole team. The book does a far more compelling job of telling the revenge story and does it in style with Cully Hamner's excellent art. With Hamner's work you feel the bullet snap back the head as it hits, his work is tremendous.

A great comic book from Ellis and Hamner and a great read. Better than the film and one of Ellis' best, highly recommended.

ok for a quick read. Yes I saw the film first and was a little let down by the comic, too short.

For a piece of work by Warren Ellis, this is a poor thing. The premise of the story is fine, but it's overly long for what it is. It's a throw-away story that's been promoted to a full book, I paid £2.93 for a 2nd-hand copy, and it was about the right cost. The copy I got was in very fine condition, so the seller was a good one, but the book itself? Leaf through the story, it's not long, then put the book back on the shelf...

Collects the three issue mini-series. There's not a great deal here as far as plot goes - new political set-up wakes up a retired government uber-assassin by trying to kill him. The art is pretty cinematic and there are some striking sequences. The book is padded out significantly with the first issue script and lay-outs - nice for the fans but a hazard for the casual buyer.

A fun book. Not a very complex story, but the artwork is brilliantly detailed. Could have made a very good movie from this, unfortunately they just made a generic comedy. Some good dialogue and fun characters, this is a fun book to burn some time with.

I was a little disappointed after reading Red. The story starts and ends very quickly. Easy reading, good if you have a spare 30 minutes or so. If you watch the film first I imagine you'll be quite let down.
