Growing up with a father who loves, ok maybe obsesses, Bob Dylan it was hard to ignore that he was one brilliant singer songwriter. Naturally, finding that his son was in a band, The Wallflowers, curiousity got the better of me and I ended up buying this album first (I got the others later, one point to say how good this one was.) and I was, to say the least, impressed. Thinking this would just be a band that got to be around because of the fame of Jakob Dylan's daddy and the sound would be the same, it is now that I realise that someone ought to slap my wrists for thinking such a thing.
"Red Letter Days" is a mix of various songs that include ballad types 'Closer to you' and the more rockier sort of 'Everybody out of the water'. I wish I could compare their sound to someone else but I really can't. I'm guessing if you like the softer rock sound then this will be for you, it will be a bit of a change but I think it will be enjoyable. Saying that, I'm a girl who enjoys anything from grunge, metal and punk. Plus, if you grew up with Bob Dylan I do think it's a must and also a crime NOT to get it.
Now, to sum it up really, this album is very. Very. Good.
