I tend to buy anthos, even though they're not my preferred length of tale, even if only one of my fave authors is appearing in them, which in this book was Maya Banks. Her story certainly did not disappoint, and as it was loosely a follow-up to Brazen, it was nice to catch up with the trio from that tale, and see how their menage relationship is working out (it is!). However, when I started to read the other stories, I was astounded at how well they all fit into the antho, at how good the storylines were, and how equally hot the tales were. I have to say that despite not expecting to, I thoroughly enjoyed each and every tale. Certainly money well spent, and well worth a read.

Love and romance in the summertime,
By K. D. Davie "kddidit" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Red-Hot Summer (Paperback)
The Stories
Maya Banks' Reckless is a cute story about a young woman who will not let her brother's best friend off the hook. Nikki has loved J.T. since she was 12 and now that she's graduated from college there's no reason they can't take it to a more heated level. Red Garnier's Color My Heart is an execution of abstract art and emotion for a young woman who refuses to tie her heart to one man. And the best way to get one man out of her heart is to take up with another hunk. But Billy doesn't care, he wants Hannah and if it takes letting another man in her bed...he doesn't mind watching. Elle Kennedy's Heat of the Moment is pretty revealing when Shelby and Garrett find out they've spent the past year misinterpreting each other's signals the night Shelby takes him and Carson to her apartment above the bakery for some decidedly non-vanilla sex. Mallery Malone's Lady Sings the Blues is an exploration of the senses when the hot and sexy Miss Scarlet discovers just how very tactile the blind blues singer can be with his hands and his lips. The Cover The cover is definitely sexy with the dark-haired beauty in the white tank top curled up in a cozy moment with the unshaven artsy type. As for the title, oh yeah, it is a Red-Hot Summer for all four ladies and their men. 7 of 11 people found the following review helpful:

Worth a read!,

I love picking up these anthologies. I look at it as a good way to check out authors I'm not already familiar with. I picked this up because I have read and liked previous books by Maya Banks. Fans of BRAZEN will like her short story in this book. It's a sequel to Brazen and focuses on sheriff JT. He has finally met his match, whether he likes it or not!
The other 3 short stories are good as well, if they feel too short. This book is definitely worth picking up! |
