Product Description

Review

'Red Hill is a fascinating look at humanity and endurance and is a nice, solid, standalone novel that would make a perfect Halloween read!' -Jess Hearts Books

'I prefer to end my playlists the same way I end my novels: on an upbeat note. So the Red Hill playlist ends with Gone, Gone, Gone by Phillip Phillips. It's a savory yet sweet tune about loving someone even past their last day, because loving someone like you might lose them tomorrow is the best way to love.' --USA Today --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

So I must admit (shamefully) that although I LOVE every other book of Jamie's I was a bit dubious about this one. It seemed so out of sync with her previous books. It made me wonder why she wrote it and if it would be any good. My love of her writing style, and my love of zombie books made me buy it and read it. And I am so glad I did.

I found it so difficult to put down. I loved the beginning as was done in a different setting than any other zombie type book I've read before. So instantly it had my attention, and my attention didn't flag one little bit throughout. There were no boring bits that made me want to skip a few pages. There were no dull fluff pieces to fill out the chapters.

I loved the alternate characters and how their lives intertwined and how they developed throughout the book along side the plot.

I would definitely read this again and again. I recommend that you do to, you wont regret it.

I have read all of Jamie McGuires books and LOVED every single one. When I first heard about Red Hill, the whole zombie apocalypse thing I thought...really?! You can do angels and badboys really well but im not so sure about zombies!! But boy did she pull it off! Within the first few chapters I was teary eyed and feeling sick. Some parts were gut wrenching, others were heartbreaking. I don't usually write reviews, hence being so short and probably quite unhelpful, but seriously...take a chance on this one you will not regret it!!

I was very nervous about reading this book as I don't really read anything like this, however it was Jamie after all so thought I'd give it a go!!!

My God I adored it, fast paced and constantly engaging!! It made you feel like you were there and the stories were woven so well and so beautifully that it was so easy to feel a part of it all. There was never a dull moment or anything predicable.

It has made me want to read another zombie book now, despite never having been interested before !! Great!

If you like The Walking Dead then this book will be up your street. There is lots of bloody, fleshy parts and some great characters! COOPER!

Well worth a read!

If you thought Jamie McGuire could only write epic New Adult books, you are wrong. Waaay wrong.

Reading Red Hill is like watching an episode of The Walking Dead. It’s got that isolated, the-world-is-over feel to it that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand to attention.

Yes, there is a romance element but that’s not what had me hooked. It was Scarlet’s sheer, unbreakable determination to find what she’s looking for. It turns her from a mild mannered woman into a zombie killing brute! She is hardcore and I loved the fact she didn’t accept the hand she had been dealt, she evolved to ensure her survival.

There is blood and gore aplenty and as the story moves along the death toll racks up, with some of the losses leaving me feeling heartbroken. One scene, very close to the end of the book, had me on the edge of my chair for a few minutes and I found myself blocking everything out except what was happening right then and there in the book. It’s short and (not) sweet but very intense and well placed.

Thoroughly enjoyable and really showcased Jamie Mcguire’s writing abilities (as if we didn’t know already!).

I really wanted to love this book as I'm a huge Jamie fan, but I just couldn't and I actually had to force myself to finish it as I was completely bored by the third chapter. The characters just didn't hold my attention like her other books have, and I found most of them irritating. I also didn't find the plot all that gripping. A real shame.
