2.0 out of 5 stars For REAL beginners 2 July 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've been making paper beads for about a week now, and I didn't find this particularly useful. I was hoping for several ways of using paper beads, methods of stringing them together, that sort of thing. This is excellent for those people who have literally never turned their hand to paper bead making, but honestly, there are better video tutorials to be found for free online. I hate to give a bad review, but I wouldn't waste your money on this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wish I hadn't bothered 25 Dec 2013

I'm sorry I didn't take more notice of the other poor reviews. The book is very short and just tells you to roll up triangles of paper and glue them then varnish. No design ideas or hints or tips. Even at 77p I feel I was robbed!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Clear and Concise Directions 4 Feb 2012
By S. Goldberg - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you ever tried recycled crafts like making homemade envelopes and quilling, this may remind you of those early days of making things out of paper which you already had on hand. I'm sure that you could also use these directions with purchased papers (just like you can for other paper crafts) to create far more elaborate crafts.

As the product description notes, this is not a lengthy book. It's a short book that describes a single method of creating paper beads. I would have liked to have read a bit more about variations using this method, and that's the one reason why I gave this book only three stars. It was good as far as it went, but I would have liked to have read a bit more on the subject.

I confess that I haven't yet tried making the beads per the directions in the booklet, but the directions are clear and concise. This crafting idea could easily be used by groups of all ages who want to do something a little different for their next meeting. (I can see where adult supervision would be needed for younger children, though.) I plan to use what I've read and recycle a few of the spring seed catalogues that have been arriving in the mail the last month or so. If you have an interest in paper crafts and making jewelry, then this book should appeal to you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good instructions for beginners 5 April 2012
By Jaine - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Although this book is quite short, and includes instructions on only one shape of paper bead, if you've never made one, the directions are clear and easy to follow (and there is a quick note about trying other shapes).

I found one item I thought was probably a typo (you are instructed to cut a strip of paper 2.5 inches long, which a) does not match the photographs, and b) would give an extremely thin and potentially weak bead), but otherwise it's a well-written set of instructions.

If you've made paper beads before, you might get a few new ideas for what papers to recycle (or you might already have thought of the ones the author lists), but you won't learn anything new besides that.

If you are looking for lots of variety, templates, or advanced instructions, you'll be disappointed with this download. If you're looking for reviews and advice on what products work best and which don't work well at all (like glues, finishes, what options work as a "core" to wrap your paper around), that's not covered here. The audience for this item would be beginners.

And, yes, you can certainly find instructions like this somewhere on the internet for free. The author isn't charging a lot for a version you can access on your Kindle, however, and this is a clear and easy place to begin.

2.0 out of 5 stars Slim Info 15 Oct 2012
By Annod - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I guess you get what you pay for. For under $4 I received just about that much information. Searching the internet (free) provided more written and pictorial information regarding making paper beads. This e-book was very, very basic. Focused on only one shape of bead. If I had a chance to review this book prior to my internet search, I would not have ordered it. I will stick to ordering craft books that are from well-know publishers as I am able to search and obtain more concise information for basically just the cost of my time.
3.0 out of 5 stars Very little information :-( 5 April 2014

Very little information. Wishing would have illustrated more techniques or methods, but its ok for a start. Thank you. Enjoy.
2.0 out of 5 stars Save your pennies and look it up on the internet... 10 Mar 2014

You'll get more info from Google results than in this booklet. Most of the pages consist of printing and copyright info and photos. The actual instructions are maybe 2 pages long. Of course, you get what you pay for, but as I said, more and better info for free is on the internet.
