5.0 out of 5 stars Home Recording Made Easy.. 17 Aug 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is really good. It demystified a lot of the complicated jargon connected with home recording. I first started getting into recording demos, way back with a first generation Tascam 4 track and shyed away from using modern digital equipment. After reading this book I found a Boss BR 800 recorder, with and without computer, as easy to use.
It explains everything, from obtaining equipment, through setting it up and actually recording. To how to make the best use of what you've recorded..

5.0 out of 5 stars through the maze 28 Feb 2014
By Will
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
An excellent guide through the maze of home recording, dealing with the highly technical themes (made simple) and the more common encounters in the workings and set up of a basic home studio.
The book lay out is to be commended inasmuch that it starts at ground zero and builds a very tall solid structure, with the advantage that one can go up or down a floor to revise or recover information.

the Kindle Amazon version has a dark back ground screen with the salient points posted on a white sheet, thus giving an easy absorption rate for eyes and brain; taking in what is very technical and initially working patterns and procedures.
The author uses humor in the right places and gives the impression of an an avuncular spirit standing over the reader's shoulder taking the novice through the 'garden gate'.

The style and language is economic, efficient and is pitched at tyro to hot pro! For the reader it is something that can be read and re-read and this in essence is it's greatest strength, basically it's not a weary slog read!!
Not unlike the best books it makes the reader cheer or whoop when they get it! Or just love to bash on into the wee hours unaware of the moving hands!

So I as a tyro thoroughly recommend this book, it will start you wanting to know more about a plethora of related subjects in the field of sound. For artist who can't bear all the engineer's technical twaddling and Mr Spock's lines, well this is for you, it fulfills the pontiffs role admirably!

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Purchase I have made in a long time. 30 Jan 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is fantastic if you have been like me struggling to record your music sound or just want to understand how it all works then this book is for you.

The only thing I would say I had to Google and Wikipedia a lot of things the book was talking about and I had to look at the images so I knew what it looked like because otherwise it would gone over my head with all these words that I have never heard before.

Brilliant book and I have no regrets. :)
