I like to think that the "Lodoss" chronicles are the reasons I fell in love with manga and anime. Though an old series, the creators show a Tolkien-esque, yet quirky and imaginative outlook on the fantasy genre. "The Lady of Pharis" presents characters which later appear (older) in the later chronicles.

Charming, interesting and worth the read if you are curious or interested in "earlier" manga before Haruhi and Lucky Star popped into the scene. The artwork is detailed, deep and very reflective of the shounen and fantasy style.

Kudos to the artist and writer!
