Record of Lodoss War is the 1st (story-wise the 2nd) manga based on the popular Record of Lodoss War anime, novel & videogame series by Ryo Mizuno.

The story centers on Parn and the gathering of his companions who all have their own personal goals to achieve while setting out on a journey together. Parn seeks to find more answers about his lost father, Deedlit the high elf simply travels to find out more about the human world, Woodchuck laments his life lost in 20 years of prison, etc etc.

If you have watched the anime OVA series you will like this manga series as it delivers a much more detailed story and more character information then the anime does. It is less rushed then the anime and delivers a more complete story. Keep in mind though that the ending of the OVA was created for the OVA only, the real story doesn't end after these 3 volumes but will continue in the Demon of Flame, Chronicles of the Heroic Knight & Deedlit's Tale.
