laid back, mid tempo beats, atmospheric and echoed all female vocals, conga breaks from Marvin Gaye's classic 'What's going on', kind of experimental off-kilter piano backing, very cool, mature album that grows on you big-time.

a deep disappointment...... 10 Oct 2001
By Timothy Heinz - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Being myself a big fan and lover of the sexy naked stylish sounds, I was - of course - looking forward to this Remix-Album of the 1999 release "What's on your mind"... but when I first listened to it, I was deeply disappointed... Reconstructed Soul proves why the "Naked People" (Jay Denes, Dave Boonshoft and Bruno Ybarra) definitely had to leave OM Records and build up a label of their own.. There is no concept in this album.. The tracklisting is terrible - it begins without feeling and continues changing from groovy house to downtempo and back.. 4 out of the 11 tracks are original versions from the '99 album.. another 3 tracks are Remixes that were available on the records.. and they remain the best ones on this album..
In the booklet you can read: "a collection of of the finest sultry/sexy dance music - the ultimate audio aphrodisiac" ..I wonder where the aphrodisiac has been.. Sorry, but Om should continue to release the "OM Lounge" and "Mushroom Jazz" -stuff, which are great, but let the Naked-People do the Naked Sounds !!!

Remixalicious 25 Sep 2001
By "dbcjr" - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
It's hard to revise a classic. Nevertheless, that is exactly what has been done to 1998's "What's On Your Mind" (Om Records) that started the Naked Music phenomenon. "Reconstructed Soul" compiled tracks from the 1998 original as well as past and present deep house mixes. Om comes correct with some powerful production from Kaskade, King Kooba, and newcomer Gabriel Rene of Soulstice. Building off the success of his "What I Say", Kaskade's signature soulful melodies and punchy bumpin' bass lines intertwine with the powerful hook of "If I Fall" to add a breath of fresh air to any listener's ears. The King Kooba crew comes through on a robotic electro limbo freestly, chopping up the vocal and pumping it back amidst a driving broken beat. On the cd, the mood shifts from unreleased downtempo tracks like "3 AM" and "Live Today" to beautiful soulful house remixes by Naked Music man Miguel Migs (aka Petalpusher), Wamdue, and Joshua (aka IZ). A collection of the finest sexy dance music, "Reconstructed Soul" is the ultimate audio aphrodisiac!

Incredibly Deep House CD - very adictive 24 Jun 2008
By Steve Bradford - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
Few club, house, or electronica CD's of the early 2000's picked-up such urban followings and club play as Naked Music NYC: Reconstructed Soul. Jay Denes unique Naked Music CD (originally released in 1999) makes this a must-have CD for any electronica fan. The beats are blended so finite, it's had to imagine why someone didn't pick-up and play this CD on the radio.

Naked Spirits Mix is beat-deep: Incredibly catchy and addictive from the first 10 seconds of play. This is one of my favorite songs on the CD. `King Kooba's Groove', `Love is everything', `What's on your Mind?' and `Live Today' are well-produced and don't suffer from cheap sound and production levels that affected many club CD's at that time.

While Jay Denes has left OM to start Naked Music, this CD is a reminder how influential his style of music has now become. His new labels successes are due to his diligent producing and quality vocals and musicians whom have debuted on his label.

Naked Music NYC: Reconstructed Soul marked a new direction for house and downbeat club music. Its ability to appeal to a larger share of listeners with its unique beats, style, and mixing has made Naked Music a staple of clubs and many new listeners eager to break-away from dull, mundane music that propagates the FM dial.

This CD will not dissappoint!
Naked Music NYC - Reconstructed Soul 25 Feb 2011
By scoundrel - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Jay Denes, probably better known under his Blue Six guise, resurrects his Naked Music NYC moniker for this collection of remixes, RECONSTRUCTED SOUL. And, as you you can imagine, it's sweet and sexy house, much along the lines of the output of Naked Music, the label. The tracks are perfect for a late-night evening at home with the one (or ones) you love. The Naked Spirits mix of "If I Fall" remakes the original into a sultry and rich house track. King Kooba make "It's Love" slightly more digital, without losing the deep house feel, while the 6th Sense dub hits the percussion a little harder. Miguel Migs rubs "If I Fall" with a mix that sounds like tough love, while Chris Brann (of Wamdue fame) does a more tech-house version, with long synth pads. Let's hope the this isn't the last of Naked Music NYC.
