Terrific CD

A compilation of his Nashville work, thoroughly enjoyable. I don't think this guy is capable of bad work, even when they (in cheezy 60s white producer fashion) put in those dopey strings and choirs. But there is very little of that. Mostly just sizzling ballads. Real Live Hurtin' Man is worth whatever you pay for this CD and then some. And Reconsider Me! Awesome. Can't get tired of listening to this stuff. You won't regret this purchase.

Johnny Adams' early recordings are great, there is so much feeling and passion in this man's voice. And the greatest falsetto this side of Donnie Elbert! These recordings are timeless, what a great CD. No way you won't like this one. The best of New Orleans Crescent City Soul, and that's saying a lot.

Voices like this don't come along very often. His falsetto is a freak of nature. My 12-year-old top-forty-listening son couldn't believe his ears when he heard Johnny's singing in the stratosphere on "I Won't Cry" (neither can I every time I hear it). The music is that beautiful country/soul mix that was so popular in the late sixties/early seventies among soul singers. This is an absolutely essential cd for your soul collection.
