4.0 out of 5 stars Schneider TM Reconfigures 26 April 2004
Format:Audio CD
"Reconfigures" is not just another one of those "here's 12 remixes I didlast year" lps. It seems to be much more organic than that. Some of thetracks seem to be complete reconstructions with just the vocals and newinstruments and rhythms added. The album grabs with glitchy noise andacoustic guitars rummaging through Pulseprogramming's "Suck or Run" Stand out track has to be the previously unreleased re-versioning ofLamb's "Wonder" which I can just hear being played on the sound system atsomewhere like the Big Chill as the harmonic vocals soar and theinstrumentation is well wonderful :-)
One of my favourites on 2ndlisten is Rechenzentrum which burbles and bleeps and has a hooky vocalrefrain. There's a couple of tracks that are rendered into funkyness -like Turtle Bay Country Club breaks down into a funky dred toast and worksback in acoustic guitar squelches and Ruby's "Grace" wouldnt be amiss in aGiles Peterson Worldwide set, specially with those funked out wah wahgee-tars. Lambchop's "New Cobweb Summer" also gets a worthy workout andthe best for last has to be Philip Boa & The Voodoo club. It's best causeI've got some Philip Boa albums from the 80's & altho "Eugene" iscontemporary and a bit vocoded its paced up and perfect for rooftop downsummer driving. Schneider TM has developed a sound that's hard todescribe but when you listen to the album as a whole you can hear theunderpinnings of his imagination at play which seems to be influenced byjust about everyone. Worth getting and one possibly to add to the"folktronic" list.

3.0 out of 5 stars Diverse alt-electronic sampler 9 July 2008

Some of these songs fail as a working whole (particularly in the 1st half) though by the end I couldn't help but appreciate such eclectic production, which makes the disc more then average.
5.0 out of 5 stars a really cool collection... 23 Jun 2004

I first heard this album at friend's party, we were all just chilling out later in the evening and I noticed that the music that was playing was pretty awesome. This is electronic mixed with indie, with a sense of playfulness, soul and songwriting. Because this cd is some kinda 'limited editon' it took me a while to find a copy...but it's nice to see that amazon now have it.
