Book #1 in the Amazon Best-Selling Star-Crossed Series

16 year old Eden Matthews has been in and out of private schools for the last two years. She can't seem to stop herself from closing them down. Kingsley is her last chance to finish high school and the last private school willing to accept her.

She is focused on just getting through graduation until she realizes Kingsley is not like the other private schools she's been to. The students may be different, but so is she. And after meeting Kiran Kendrick, the boy who won't leave her alone and seems to be the source of all her problems, she is suddenly in a world that feels more make-believe than reality.

To top it off, she is being hunted by men who want to kill Kiran and her best friend Lilly is taken away to a foreign prison. Eden finds herself right in the middle of an ancient war, threatening everything she loves. She alone has to find a way to save her best friend and the boy who has captivated her heart.

Reckless Magic is an intricate story about mystery, adventure, magic and forbidden love. Eden Matthews is an unlikely heroine determined to save the world and be with her one, true love before it's too late.

About the Author

I was born and raised in Nebraska, but spent my college years traveling the world. I fell in love with Eastern Europe, Paris, Indian Food and the beautiful beaches of Sri Lanka. But I came back home to marry my high school sweetheart and now I spend my days raising our growing family. In those few spare moments I have, I am either reading or writing Young Adult Fiction, because I am Obsessed with it! Five other things I'm obsessed with right now: 1. My Kuerig Coffee Machine. Genius. 2. 90's music. Oh man, I might not have understood the 80's but the 90's speaks right to my soul. 3. Chocolate smelling body wash. Who doesn't want to walk around smelling like a bakery? 4. E-Readers. Probably my favorite invention of all time! Well, other than indoor plumbing.... And. 5. Bubble Blast. Way better than Angry Birds. Way too addicting. And Way fun!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best in this genre since Twilight Saga !! 7 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What a great idea to make the first book free, it encouraged me to try it and by midway I was hooked. I have now read all four books in quick succession and it is a great story with lots of amazing characters and a wealth of detail and experiences.
There are many typo errors like poor grammar and misspelt words in places. Also the additional words here and there, where the author has obviously reworded a sentence but forgotten to remove the old wording completely. These are just editing errors and whilst annoying will not detract from your enjoyment of this amazing story.
Originally written for young adults, as was The Twilight Saga of Stephanie Meyer, but, like that series, this story will enthrall all ages. I personally am 73 and loved the books, can't wait for Ms Higginson to write more...hopefully with better proofreading!! I'm available if she needs someone !! BUY ALL FOUR DOWNLOADS, YOU WILL BE ENCHANTED AND ENTHRALLED.

5.0 out of 5 stars Try it! 16 Mar 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I downloaded this book for free and absolutely loved it. It's a YA book, and I'm not a Young Adult, but I do enjoy good YA and I enjoyed this. The characters were believable, you wanted to know what would happen next and it romped along at a good old pace. It is school based to begin with and definitely fantasy, so don't pick it up expecting a grown up heavy read. The romance was mixed up with the magic so I didn't find it too schmaltzy. Great, if you like this genre. Try it! I'm off to download the next book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed thoughts on this book 7 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I had very mixed feelings about this book. I thought the premise of this book was quite good and the ideas worked well. However I found it quite poorly written and if the male lead "smirked" one more time I would have hit him. Several proof reading mistakes also. It was a shame as I wanted to like it more and as it was free I shouldn't complain!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely amazing! 19 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I wasn't expecting much from this due to it being a free book (I seem to get one good book for 5 awful ones), but the cover drew me in. This also needs a review, it's fantastic!
I feel like it's a huge combination of books, kind of like Harry Potter, Vampire Academy (though there aren't vampires, just mainly because of the school feeling) and those kinds of books.
It was an absolutely amazing read that I ripped through, and boy do I love Kiran. Plenty of surprises in it and plot twists, I really enjoyed it. I'm just sad that I can't get the other two yet as I don't have the money for it!
5 stars for sure!

Loved the story line but dear lord in need of serious editing!!!! Constantly using you're instead of your..... terrible and very, very annoying! A few terribly worded sentences thrown in there as well but if you look past these flaws the story was good

This is a great book, yes there are typos but it was still a great read, at the end of the day I pick up a book to escape and this certainly did not disapoint. Cannot wait for any new book that this author has in the pipeline.
