I borrowed this book from my local library, looking for some different recipes for my Panasonic bread machine. I liked the book so much I bought a copy and have used some of the recipes with great success. As well as sound advice and tips on using a bread machine, this book also has sections entitled 'Simple Breads', Flavoured Breads', 'Kneaded Breads' and 'Cakes and Sweet Loaves', and each recipe includes a footnote for added clarity. As an added bonus, Mr Ehrlich has included recipes for making such items as Meat Loaf, Polenta and Soups in your bread machine - something I hadn't even considered before. The book is clearly written, with measurements in European grams - not a cup measurement in sight, (my personal bugbear). Most of the recipes are illustrated with beautiful photographs, which is just the icing on the cake - or bread, whichever you prefer!

A well written book, full of tempting and easy-to-follow recipes. If you're a hummus lover like me, the recipe on page 78 will certainly appeal. However, if you don't want it to turn out like a housebrick, I'd add at least a teaspoon of fast-acting yeast!

I was interested to read that a few other people have had problems with the recipes in this book. as I have had no success with 'banana bread - the sweet stuff' (p.111). My first attempt resulted in the most horrible goo and I assumed that I must have made a mistake. My second effort, however, was no better despite the fact that I measured everything out with minute accuracy. The mixture appears to be far too wet. I'd be interested to hear from anyone else who has had a go at this. Did you manage to create a loaf? Or did you end up with a pile of sludge that went straight in the bin?

I must admit I have previously relied on my breadmaker's handbook for bread recipes. However,I liked the look of the focaccia bread in this book, and that was why I bought it.

My family absolutely raved about the focaccia - it looks so impressive - as if you have made it all entirely by scratch and not from a bread-maker.

The recipe for simple bread rolls using the "dough" or "pizza" setting was very successful. Again, the family preferred this book's recipes rather than my usual one.

I look forward to trying more bread roll and flatbread recipes.

I bought this because it was the only breadmaker book we could see at the time. It's interesting that another reviewer noticed the lack of yeast in the recipe on p. 78 (hummus bread). When I tried the gsg bread (p. 52) it was far too wet and really not a great success, though the flavour was good, and it toasted well! But... not all it's cracked up to be, this book. It needs a thorough road-test and proofread, I reckon.

I originally brought this as a wedding present for my brother and liked the look of all the recipes in it that I kept it for myself!
I have made the chocolate chip cake in the breadmaker and initially i was disappointed when it come out of the breadmaker. However it tasted delicious. I had made it for a coffee morning for me and some other mums and they all loved it too.
I am looking forward to making lots of bread in the colder months to go with my soup.
