I was introduced to this book by a friend who lives in Brittany. She has a potager where she grows the most amazing selection of herbs and she cooked recipes from this on 3 of the days we stayed with her. Some of the herbs regularly used in French cuisine are not easy to buy in (northern) England but I have been inspired to plant chervil and angelica. The only recipes I have made so far are the Scented Geranium Cake and the Apricot & Scented Geranium Jam because my rose-scented Geranium is taking over the windowsill. The cake is good; the subtle flavour and scent surprised a lot of people but it does need to be eaten the day it is made because the flavour and scent both faded rapidly - within 24 hours. The jam seems to have more longevity after the jar is opened. I look forward to testing more of the recipes.

We purchased this book in Ireland 15 years ago. Loved the recipes but struggled to find the ingredients in those days. Now we live in France we appreciate how well put together this book is. Every dish we have tried has been a success and the photography is an added delight. Highly recommended.

One of my favorite little French cookbooks 24 Jan. 2014

Format: Hardcover
The Burgundian Ham Custard recipe has become a staple breakfast in our house—although for me, it takes a little longer to bake then the recipe states. This little cookbook contains so many delicious recipes and interesting contextual notes along with most of the recipes.
