Product Description

Product Description

Three years in the making, Recipes for Disaster is the long-awaited follow-up to the CrimethInc. collective’s notorious first book, Days of War, Nights of Love. This 624-page manual complements the romance and idealism of that earlier work with practical information and instruction. Over thirty collectives collaborated in testing, composing, and editing the book’s 62 sections, which range from Affinity Groups, Coalition Building, and Mental Health to Sabotage, Squatting, and Wheatpasting. These are illustrated with extensive technical diagrams and first-hand accounts, and prefaced with a thorough discussion of the diverse roles direct action can play in social transformation. If you’re looking for a tactical handbook for revolutionary action, look no further.

About the Author

The CrimethInc. ex-Workers’ Collective is a memberless underground pledged to the total transformation of Western civilization and life itself.

This book is not a 620+ page bible for those angry teens who want to destroy for the fun of it., or because no one understands them. This is a TRUE anarchists cookbook, it features "recepies" such as "how to turn your bicycle into a record player" and "billboard improvement". This book does not advocate violence it preaches non violent life changes that lead you towards anarchism. What can be said is that if you lead your life by this book you would not work, and would probably survive quite nicely. If you think yourself an anarchist because you hate authority and want to rebel look elsewhere for literature, if however you feel your life could use a change, perhaps youv realised the triviality of work and stress and would just like to enjoy your life being as free as possible in the western world, then i would recomend this book.

I would also recomend you try some of crimethinc's other work: evasion days of war nights of love etc.

Misunderstanding... 2 Jun 2006
By J. Fox
Format:Paperback
the reviewer "a reader" has obviously misunderstood anarchism as a whole by making this statement "Why, in todays world of international terrorism and flaming death, would it be this easy to find a book telling you how to make explosives?

Do you think these recipies will work?"

I suggest they go and witness and make themselves knowledgable about the roots and causes of anarchism and the movement itself.

this book is not a guide to achieving any sort of "flaming death" and it is ludicrous to think so.

a good way to introduce yourself to anarchist action but by far the ebst way is to go find some people who live an anarchist lifestyle!

this is not a recipe book for disaster, or in any way linked to the anarchist cookbook. this title and the title "the anarchist cookbook" of the 1970s with which many have heard of are not linked.

Many interesting personal accounts of anarchist action. This isn't a "Dirty Tricks" manual or anything like the original Anarchist Cookbook. Recipes for Disaster is more of a "white paper" of how to become a great protester and live and anti-establishment lifestyle.
