Introducing the KitSound Kingston

With a rechargeable battery, powerful sound and multiple ways to connect a wide range of instruments and devices, the KS Kingston is the ultimate portable PA system.

Create Your Own Carnival

Spontaneous street parties have been popular in the Caribbean since the 1950s, when Jamaican DJs invented the concept of the sound system by loading up their trucks with generators, turntables and speakers to set up impromptu festivals. With the Kingston wireless portable sound system, you can have a street party too.

Take it Anywhere

A completely mobile speaker system, the Kingston has integrated wheels, a telescopic handle and is made from MDF wood and epoxy painting, to withstand the toughest outdoor conditions. What's more, it has a rechargeable battery that lasts up to five hours.

Multiple Uses

Thanks to its integrated 3-channel mixer, the Kingston is a versatile speaker which lets you connect your devices and instruments in multiple ways. So whether you want to dock your iPod, iPhone or iPad Lightning device, connect wirelessly via Bluetooth, use the XLR input for microphones and other instruments or even attach it to a speaker pole, the Kingston is perfect for musicians, teachers and aerobics instructors too. It's still a good excuse for a party though.

I was given this unit to offer an honest review, hear are my thoughts:

The sound system offers a load of features compared to other portable speakers. It incorporates features that help fine tune the sound along with options for device inputs. It has a three-channel mixer, a mic, line-in and the Bluetooth/dock source. There is a volume control on the unit but this, as can other features, can be controlled from a device using Bluetooth.

The Bluetooth allows it to connect to multiple devices while the lightning dock at the top of the unit can also charge the more modern IPhones (5 and 6 for example). It has XLR and RCA inputs as well as analog RCA outputs for sound recordings if you wish to do so.
It states the internal battery will give you 5 hours of portable power between charges, I found it closer to 4 but that is still pretty impressive considering the volume I was playing it at.
Reading the detail I am told it is constructed of MDF wood and coated in epoxy paint to protect it from outdoor use. And I have to say it feels great quality and very sturdy.
It has wheel so you can drag it, which is good as you don't want to be carrying it as it does have some weight. It also has a telescopic handle to allow easy movement.

What about the sound? Load, clear and superb. You really can crank this up and not lose the pitch.
This system is one for the party, I think it would be wasted elsewhere.

I can't give it anything other than 5 stars as it does what it says yet with sound quality expected from much more expensive units.
Great piece of kit.

I was kindly supplied this item free of charge to test and evaluate. In exchange, I agreed to provide an honest review detailing my thoughts:

Due to the sheer size of the speaker I thought that the battery would drain far too quickly for it to use as a mobile sound system. I naturally prepared an extension lead for when it arrived, as a source of power. But before I did so, when it arrived I tested out how long the battery would last before I would have to resort to having it constantly plugged into the mains. Surprisingly, I could get a decent 4 to 5 hours of use from a full charge before it died, so no need to keep it plugged in unless you're hosting a 24 hour rave. That’s not to mention it was at a pretty comfortable/loud volume, which brings me onto my next point.

This speaker is LOUD, which is to be expected for the size of it, but for the price; although it may seem like a lot, PA systems or anything similar to this kind of device like this would be much more if it was a top brand such as Samson or Fishman. I had intended this speaker to be used in my fairly small garden and as I found out, it doesn't do the Kingston justice. You could use this speaker for large gardens, house parties, picnics, on a field or even at the beach (although I wouldn't recommend in case sand gets into the speaker). You can literally use it anywhere, with its suitcase styled handle and wheels you can pull it along, even play it as you walked down the street (if you really wanted).

Connecting music to the device was really simple. I don’t have an iPhone so I couldn't use the dock, but it has Bluetooth built in so I didn't need to use it. I just pressed the Bluetooth button on the speaker and looked through my phone (HTC 8X) at the list of available Bluetooth devices.

I wanted this for ages and got it for Christmas last year after much hinting. I liked the idea of an offline speaker that had some poke. I have to say it's very good. It is solidly built, and although the sound is not for the connoisseur, it is perfect for taking down the garden for BBQs and having music that is loud and bassy as you like rather than a tinny battery powered mini-speakers that usually have to do. I've run it for 2-3 hours without the battery falling below about half power according to the indicator but usually I just have it plugged in most of the time.

The Bluetooth works perfectly too. I can't stand Bluetooth devices that are forever unpairing or not finding my phone or tablet. This just connects immediately after switching on and off we go. My only minor complaint would be that it needs to be switched on to charge it seems. Not sure why that is but there you go.

I bought the Kitsound Kingston portable sound system from Amazon a few days ago.
I need it for a outdoor Narural burial service on Friday.
Really disappointed as I cannot charge it up for the recommended 48yrs because according to your instructions I need to switch in on in order for it to charge...but it has an automatic 20mins cut off for it doesn't charge continually unless I switch it on and off every 20 mins???
That is crazy...

I need to keep it on battery for at least 3 hours to be of any use to me...and the reason I bought it was due to the excellent reviews online???

What can I do please...time is short if it doesn't charge I haven't time to sort out this weekend in preparation for Friday morning!

If I can't sort this soon ...
I need to buy something else for the purpose.

Please get in touch as soon as possible

Thanks Tina.
