Product Description

Spanish horror sequel in which another outbreak of a deadly infectious virus strikes an unsuspecting group of civilians. It is Koldo (Diego Martin) and Clara (Leticia Dolera)'s wedding day. Everything goes well, with the happy couple revelling in their special day, until an elderly guest who had complained of being bitten by a dog earlier in the day keels over and appears to be dead. However, subsequent events reveal that a fate far worse than death has struck the guest when he awakes and savagely bites his wife, triggering a further outbreak of the rabies-like infection among the wedding party. Amidst the chaos that ensues, Clara and Koldo become separated from one another. Can they find each other and make their escape before one of them becomes infected with the horrifying virus spreading like wildfire through the group?

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as other reviews suggest. 16 July 2013
Verified Purchase
It was with great trepidation that I bought this item after reading the reviews for REC3. This is not really a film I would classify in the REC series as it bears little resemblance to the first two which are both 5 star films, hence the 4 star review. However, as a stand alone film this movie is good fun. Yes, it gets farcical at times but I actually found this to be a refreshing change. I can understand why some die hard REC fans find this film insulting but if you go in with the mindset that it's going to be really bad you just might be surprised. All in all a little gem of a film for under a tenner.

I've literally just switched off Rec 3: Genesis. I didn't see how it ended as I couldn't put up with another second. Basically they've changed a previously successful "serious" horror series into a cheesy horror with comical elements and OTT cinematic style and dramatic music rather than the realistic found footage style of the first two films. I simply can't believe what I've just witnessed and if anyone had told me what to expect I would have laughed it off as some sort of wind up. People camping it up in suits of armour while zombies are on the loose nearby - yeah good one, like they'd put junk like that in a serious horror franchise...

REC, particularly the original, provided a fresh injection of quality to the zombie horror sub-genre. This film makes a mockery of that, and it's unfortunate that the fans who bought the first two films are the ones who, like myself, are suckered into buying this without really knowing what they're letting themselves in for. I purposefully avoided knowing too much about Rec 3 to avoid spoilers so this has come as a massive shock to me.

If you loved REC and / or REC 2 then JUST AVOID THIS MOVIE!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Appalling insult of a movie 9 Sep 2012
Rec and Rec 2 were two of the best horror movies EVER - in my opinion, of course.

This piece of garbage is an insult to the first two movies.

It made me want to jab sharpened pencils into my own eyes.

I'd like to write more of a review but this was such a piece of garbage that the words do not exist yet to describe just how awful this movie is.

1.0 out of 5 stars I wish I could 'un-watch' this movie. 13 Aug 2012
By M Prime
In a word SHOCKING. I loved the first 2 rec's and I waited for this so keenly.
Its almost as if the directors and writers wanted to ruin the legacy of the franchise. Corny Lines and ridiculous 'action' sequences. This films ignores all the aspects that made the first and second films classics. The religous elements were almost mocked in this, I wont go into deatils becasue if you were a fan of the series you will watch it anyway.
I personally would have scored this a zero if i could, most disappointting film i've seen this year.
It went from being a fantastic foreign language horror to being almost a spoof of the first 2.

I will not be watching the 4th if this is anything to go by.

2.0 out of 5 stars Such a disappointment. 16 Dec 2012
I'm a huge fan of the first two Rec films, they are among my favorite horrors of recent years so, I was very much looking forward to this latest installment... However I was really disappointed with this mess of a film. The creators of REC must have found themselves with a dilemma. Do you a) continue with the same format, and progress the storyline but basically create nearly the same film as its prequels or b) do something entirely different and risk losing fans? Evidently they went for b). And it's a mixed blessing. After 20 minutes the original hand-held found footage format is ditched, switching to traditional third person shooting. I found this slightly disappointing as they establish three different viewpoints (aka cameramen) in those twenty minutes, and it seems like a rather throwaway measure - why take the time to create three different versions of the same events if you're going to ditch them all in a few minutes time? You barely see any of the "cinematic" cameraman's footage, so his purpose within the film is almost entirely pointless. Just one cameraman - the groom's brother - would have been enough. Nevertheless, after this boring segment the film finally gets interesting when the uncle of the groom arrives and he seems infected, and the eventual zombie attack afterwards is well staged. Throughout the movie there are little nods to the previous films which are lovely, but far too few. The first 20 min of this movie is just so boring and it's not a good build up at all even if it's the only part where it goes in the found footage direction with a couple enjoying their wedding with the invited guest. And it's a boring wedding to watch. The development is so weak you don't care about any of the characters hardly. Read more ›

4.0 out of 5 stars Revenge Of The Blood-Splattered Bride 20 Aug 2012
Ok for starters REC 3 is very unlike the first two movies, but who cares when the result is a great action-filled zombiefest (or possession-fest,whatever you prefer) which features plenty of bloody gore and a touch of humour just to top it all off.
The demonic virus has now reached the wedding of a young couple named Clara and Koldo and very quickly most of the guests become infected and turn into ravenous blood-thirsty creatures of the night.
The main plot features the bride and groom attempting to re-unite amongst all the carnage, and despite the levity of the whole situation there are some lighter moments which I found quite refreshing after the first two very dark (but brilliant)instalments.
The childrens entertainer 'SpongeJohn Squarepants' ('there was a problem with copyright'-he tell's the confused guests)is very amusing and the bride herself briefly turns into an almost comic character in the final reel ('THIS IS MY DAY!' she vigourously screams out at the flesh-eaters).
Ok so I can maybe understand why some [REC] fans are disappointed with how dissimilar 'Genesis' is,especially when the hand-held format is replaced after twenty minutes or so, but in the end it is what it is.Don't be put off by some negative reviews out there-REC 3 isn't the best horror in the world but it's a specious bit of entertainment which is as good as REC 2 and provides a great appetizer for the fourth and final instalment-REC 4-Apocalypse.
