Product Description

Product Description

Following the success of 2012 s posthumous Rebirth of Detroit CD, the official estate of J Dilla is proud to present Rebirth of Detroit Instrumentals. The new album distills Rebirth of Detroit s 21 tracks to a lean 12 beats, never before pressed to vinyl, spanning Dilla s career from Slum Village to Donuts. Containing only carefully sequenced, cherry-picked tracks that span over a decade of work, Rebirth of Detroit Instrumentals serves both as a comprehensive overview of Dilla s style and as a testament to its profound influence on contemporary producers. The double LP, packaged with entirely new artwork, offers a rare insight into the mind of an artist who has come to define not only Motor City rap but the entirety of hip-hop from the 90 s to today.

3.0 out of 5 stars Real Dilla Fan, Not a Hater 18 Aug 2012
By THUMPERUSAF - Published on
Format:Audio CD
This Cd was wasn't a total let down, but let's face it. JDilla wouldn't of approved any of these songs to be release except two, "pitfalls" (what is that interlude about?)and Danny Browns cut (first two verses)... the rest, either garbage or reused beats from other Jdilla releases creating a mess of the orignal works... I think J Dilla was ahead of his time, and his music will go on forever... but this is the FIRST TIME ever I bought a Dilla CD and wasn't impressed, inspired, or just totally outta control bouncing with that real live "ish". I gave it a 3 just cause Dilla name on it... really needs just a one... Makayla silver medal smirk... not impressed

4.0 out of 5 stars Damn I Miss Dilla 30 Aug 2012

I listened to the beats on this album and honestly realized at around track 12, we have truly lost a music god. No disrepect to some of the MC's but a beat from Dilla is nothing to bring your mediocre rap skills to the table. These are beats that should seriously be kept for the MC Gods. I understand that Dilla was loved by Detroit unconditionally, but the MC's didn't quite bring the rhyme skills to match the beats. I gave this 4 mics simply because Dilla's greatness on these tracks; I mean dude takes you through a sonic Utopia. Shouts to Amp Fiddler for doing his track some justice though and The MC's on the Dillatroit track, Super Emcee, Guilty Simpson and Nick Speed.

I think overall , i waited for this album and wasn't necessarily let down ; but i expected more from the mcs on this piece, i guess the use of the hip hop heads from the D was an ode' too Dilla ,, they could've came better, I respect Mrs Yancey for picking out or hearing out the people who picked the artist out. IM WAITING ON THE FUTURE MUSIC FROM DILLA. God Bless the Yancey family ,, ill be waiting for more greatness ,Thank you .If your a true lover of Dilla it is worth the listen and download ; but may not be what you expected.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Dilla-troit! 14 Mar 2013

The beats are your classic Dilla joints. Some MC's on here werent so impressive, hence the 4 stars. If it was a straight instrumental album, or if Dilla (RIP) had some verses on the joint, it would be 5 stars.
