No ordinary fairy tale...

Linden is a feisty faery with a lot on her mind. She her fellow faeries are under threat: their magic is fading, and if they do not act fast, they will die...

Review

A compelling fantasy adventure. ****

(Books For Keeps 20100501)

Myth and magic is beautifully sustained and this is a book to enchant anyone who loves a fairy story.

(School Librarian 20100701)

A novel refreshingly, and often humorously, off-beat.

(Book Fest Guide 20100901)

This delightful book is a charm to read with lots of exciting action.

(Guardian 20110414)

About the Author

Rebecca Anderson was born in Uganda, raised in Ontario, went to school in New Jersey, and has spent much of her life dreaming of other worlds entirely.

As a child she immersed herself in fairy tales, mythology, and the works of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien and E. Nesbit; later she discovered more contemporary authors like Ursula LeGuin, Patricia A. McKillip and Robin McKinley, and learned to take as much pleasure from their language as the stories they told.

Now married and the mother of three young sons, Rebecca reads to her children the classic works of fantasy and science fiction that enlivened her own childhood, and tries to bring a similar sense of humor, adventure, and timeless wonder to the novels she writes for children and young adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Fairy Rebels Adventures Continue 30 Jun 2011
Format:Paperback
At first I was a little disappointed that Knife wasn't the main character in this installment,
however I did expect this given the ending of Knife. I loved Knife's fiestiness and ahe really
is a kick ass little fairy and I wasn't sure that Linden could live up to her. But I was wrong.

No they are not the same, but Linden has her own stuborness and determination to save the others
of the Oak. I really enjoyed her friendship and possible relationship with Timothy and loved
that Knife, albeit a human Knife, played her part in the story too.

I really enjoyed the story moving away from the Oakenwyld although I hope this doesn't happen too
much in future books as I love the Oak and the little folk living in it. The story really benefitted
from the change of scenery and going to London and being introduced to the less than friendly fairy
folk there was very interesting.

I am really looking forward to Arrow (which is sat in my pile of books to read), the 3rd installment
and also to Swift which unfortunately isn't realeased until the spring of next year (damn you write faster!!)
And I'm sure I'll be really sad when the series ends.

5.0 out of 5 stars very good 15 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback
I read this thinking it would continue from knife but its a story on its own following knifes daughter linden it refers back to knife and though it follows its own story it has woven into it a storyline that must follow with the next one a good read but i thought it much like tithe at points
