Product Description

This controversial BBC series is centred around Ernie Coyne (James D'Arcy), a Dublin lad who in 1916 joins Michael Collins' (Brendan Coyle) Irish Rebellion. Although Ernie is encouraged by fellow freedom fighter Ita Feeney (Paloma Baeza), with whom he falls passionately in love, he finds his loyalty to the cause challenged when he experiences the harsh realities of the struggle for free state first hand.

This was a fantastic show when it came out on BBC. Funnily enough it was actually banned in Ireland, which I always found strange. If you haven't seen this, it cover from the 1916 Easter rising through to the civil war all through the eyes of the young idealist. If you like Micheal Collins, then get it!

this is alright apart from its distinct lack of Irish actors. I like how they have James Connolly as a Scots, which he was - not everyone knows that. kinda a family version of 'wind that shakes the barley'
