Format: Paperback
After stumbling across Rebar in Vicoria, British Columbia I had the most amazing lunch and just had to buy the recipe book. I've not since been able to put it down since and have been reading it like a novel - it's so full of exciitng ideas many of which are / can be adapted to make them vegan friendly.

The book is mainly aimed at the vegetarian / vegan wholefood type market although some recipes include fish. The range of ideas covered are huge, right from breakfast through brunch, lunch, dinner and a whole range of smoothies and juices. I am just about to order a vegetable juicer to see if I can reproduce the gorgeous Juices I tasted at Rebar.

There are also hints and tips on nearly every page helping you to improve your skills and giving you ideas, the most useful I have seen so far is a very simple idea to make it less impossible to prepare butternut squash (which I'd previously given up on!) simply bake it for a few minutes and the skin easily slices away. So simple yet so brilliant!

I can't recommend this book highly enough and am going to go on a personal campaign to try and spread the Rebar word.... then once I've mastered the recipes and juices maybe I'll make a pilgrimage back to Victoria to see how my versions compare with the original!

If you live near enough to Victoria to make the trip.... do so, if not then settle with this fantastic book for now!

After some internet search for 'the 10 best cookbooks' I decided to go for this one, and my goodness, it's amazing. Have cooked 5 dishes from it so far and each one is an explosion of flavours and a huge success. The recipes can take a long time to prepare and some of the ingredients could be hard to source if you are not in a major multicultural city. No problem for me, living in London with japanese and chinese supermarkets around the corner. This cookbook has quite restored my confidence in cooking, everyone is soooo impressed. The book is vegetarian and all recipes have clear explanations of how they can be made vegan. But I'm not vegetarian, I just like excellent tasty healthy food. Which this certainly is.

I also bought this book after experiencing rebar in canada. I spent some time trying all these interesting recipes many of which have ingredients i would not normally use and was very surprised at how much this book opens up new flavours and textures for me to enjoy. I loved it especially the pancake recipes !! Awesome!
