Review

"Stephanie Laurens' heroines are marvellous tributes to Georgette Heyer." - Cathy Kelly "All I need is her name on the cover to make me pick up the book." - New York Times bestselling author Linda Howard"

Product Description

Miss Lenore Lester was perfectly content with her quiet country life, caring for her father, and having no desire for marriage. She took steps to remain inconspicuous when managing her brothers' house parties and tried her best to show indifference - but to no avail! The notoriously charming Jason Montgomery - Duke of Eversleigh - could easily see behind Miss Lenore's brilliant disguise and clearly signalled his interest.Though Lenore hid behind glasses and pulled-back hair, she couldn't disguise her beauty. However, she remained determined not to be thrown off balance by this charming rake. Duke Eversleigh though, was equally determined to loosen the hold Lenore had on her heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent, 16 Feb 2004
After reading all of Laurens' Cynster series, it was absolutely wonderful to read this story which I initially discovered in a book by Laurens called ' a season for marriage'. The story of Lenore is fascinating in that although she tries to efface herself when helping her rakehell brothers host their wild parties, and definitely not taking part in them herself, she finds herself the target of amorous pursuit by one of her brothers friends who percieves her beauty despite her disguise. This book is like her others in that there are wonderfully sensual scenes and well paced story. The books/stories of the Lester family were in fact written before her Cynster series but contain the elements of passion, intregue and masterful men that we have come to know and love in her current books. If you want to find out more about the Lester family, the story of Lenore's brother Jack can be found in 'a season for marriage' as well as this book which has been published as a single. enjoy the read. I did.

1.0 out of 5 stars disapointing, 25 Sep 2006
By Lo (England) - See all my reviews
This is not what i expected at all. Lenore is hardly a shy miss either. I just felt as though this was the authors version of the time and place (which obviously it was) rather than anything real. I know you have to suspend belief with most romance novels but i wasnt convinced by it at all. Disapointing.

This book was really easy to read, I enjoyed most of it, although it was a little slow at times.
