I generally love chick lit books but I just couldn't get into this one no matter how I tried.

The story is focused primarily on Henri (Henrietta)Prime and her brother Peter. They are radio show presenters but have been forced to leave UK radio because Peter can't help but play the fool on radio and a practical joke that goes wrong ends in a law suit and their dismissal.

They travel to New York, totally unprepared for a job interview and blunder their way through their live pilot show. They accidentally hit upon the idea of getting callers to phone in and tell them live on air about what is wrong with their relationship. The Primes, along with listeners will then endeavour to come up with ten valid reasons why the caller should dump their boyfriend.

Peter is portrayed as a gluttonous buffoon - not in the least bit likeable. Henri is uptight, very British and saving herself for marriage.

What sounded like a very fun idea for a story just didn't play out. I couldn't identify with either of the main characters, they were stilted, unbelievable and to be honest not really very likeable. The conversations between them just didn't ring true of any that would take place between a normal brother and sister. And no matter how risqué the radio station was supposed to be I honestly can't believe that some of the things said by callers would have been allowed to be transmitted during prime time with no censorship.

I guess if you want something very light hearted to read that doesn't require a lot of concentration then this would probably make quite a good beach read. If you want a chick lit of the calibre written by authors such as Sophie Kinsella or Trisha Ashley then don't bother with it as you will be disappointed.

I didn't expect anything spectacular with this book, just some entertaining chick-lit, but this is just painful to read. The dialogue is contrived, character development non-existent and reads like some sort of cheap magazine insert.
THe most infuriating bit is the amount of grammar errors. I have to re-read every other sentence to piece together meaning in this clearly un-proof read text.
Articles are wrongly placed, incorrect tenses and words are used, as if someone ran a spellchecker on the whole thing and didn't bother to actually reveiw the changes.
Embarrasing

A nice quick read 6 Oct 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
It's nice to find new authors on Kindle, and this one seems to be able to put together a good, fast read, perfect for the dreaded train or bus journey. Another plus is the New York storyline - it's a place I love and this radio-style take on the the city was a welcome change.
