Product Description

Book Description

Is belief in God a delusion? Is faith blind, or is there a reasonable case for Christianity?,

Bestselling author Scott Hahn explains the "how and why" of the Catholic faith, drawing from Scripture, his own struggles and those of other converts, as well as from everyday life and natural science. Hahn shows that reason and revelation, nature and the supernatural, are not opposed to one another; rather they offer complementary evidence that God exists.

Reasons to Believe unravels mysteries, corrects misunderstandings, and offers thoughtful, straightforward responses to common objections about the Catholic faith. It is the ideal book both for Christians who want to grow stronger in their faith and to share it with others, and for enquirers in search of a belief that satisfies both the mind and the heart.

About the Author

The extraordinary vision and panache of Scott Hahn's writing have made Catholic theology thrilling and accessible for millions of readers inside and far beyond the boundaries of the Church. He is the author of seven other DLT books: The Lamb's Supper; Hail, Holy Queen; First Comes Love; Lord, Have Mercy, Swear to God, Letter and Spirit and Ordinary Work, Extraordinary Grace: My Spiritual Journey in Opus Dei. He is Professor of Theology and Scripture at the Franciscan University of Steubenville.

a splendid intro 31 Dec 2008

This is an excellent book to give to a non-catholic friend or poorly instructed Catholic. If read it will give them a coherent understanding of the Catholic position. Hahn's lively style and the succinct length of the book simply add to it's effectiveness.

Excellent book from Scott and one that all serious Catholics should have in their collection.
`Reasons to Believe` provides sound theology at a level all can understand quite easily and enable the reader to give sound replies to those age old questions from non-Catholics.

I am a Catholic, and I was newly converted when I bought this book on the advice of friends. To be honest, I didn't feel that it gave me or my husband any reasons to believe. I read it, thought "was that it?" and put it on the shelf. It has stayed there, and not been re-read. I have not invested in Mr Hahn's other books for fear of being disappointed again. I know for many many peope this book has been so helpful, but for me it was very general and didn't really live out the promise of the title as I personally did not feel any more equipped to understand, explain or defend the Church than I did before reading.
