I bought this for a friend's old XP box and expected to have to struggle to get it to work - but all I had to to was plug it in and switch on!

Apart from adding a password, Windows configured everything automatically and it connected to the Sky Router (downstairs) at 300Mbps. Downloads and browsing the web are as quick as when using the previous hard-wired modem.

For the ease of use, performance and low price it certainly gets 5-stars from me.

I would note to anyone thinking of buying this product that the supplied CD doesn't contain drivers for Windows 7 or Windows 8. Windows 7/8 drivers are available on the Internet; I would advise downloading them before purchasing this product: http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=229&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true#2291

Apart from the above, the product has been working very well for me so far and is well priced.

Previous USB wireless unit was damaged so had to find a replacement. From reports the Realtek unit seemed good value and worked effectively so bought one at a competitive cost through Amazon. Arrived quickly and easy to install so that my PC was up and logged into my home hub in minutes. Since installing the unit has worked effectively and transferred data without problems.

Enclosed disc contains drivers and utility, for XP up to and including win 8, so should work with win 10......... I have a pci card which is a 150Mbps with external 9db gain aerial which gives me 88% to 95% s.s with a tx/rx of 72Mbps, this unit with my 9db gain aerial gives me 65% to 75% with a tx/rx of 86.5Mbps. When over 71% tx/rx is 130Mbps works slightly better in USB3 slot, go figure! Very poor if usb extension used, goes down to 60%... the ping is better than the pci card...... Hopefully this will work better in my other pc in different location.

The hardware itself seems good. I am getting a good signal without even having attached the antenna which I expect would give an even better signal. So once you get it working as I have on Windows I can't fault it.
However the packaging does not have any detail about make or model number. The included CD seems to have some beta drivers on it which others have found may or may not work. After trying a number of different drivers from the official realtek website I managed to get it working and it was detected as an RTL 8192EU USB 2.0 adaptor.

You would think the main reason why someone buys this product is to connect to the internet. The disc with the drivers on supplied was outdated (which is understandable) and didn't support the use of the adapter. So this then means you have to connect to the internet, to install the latest drivers so that it works. Although this isn't a huge problem for most people, as they will already have a computer connected to the internet. You can see why this would be a problem if it was someones first device connecting to the internet. In order to go online, I had to bridge the connection from my family laptop to my computer, to download the drivers that would make it work.

The disc isn't completely useless though! It comes with a program that allows you to go in advanced settings for your adapter and has 2 signal bars to give you more of a precise reading on your Wi-Fi signal.

Overall it's a great adapter, which gives you a great signal from your router, regardless where you are in your home. It comes with an antenna, which seems more like a aesthetic option than performance, as you seem to get the same amount of signal strength. Wouldn't recommend to someone who isn't confident on computers but it's pretty straightforward if you have a basic understanding.

The removable antennae is not needed in home but great for weak signals when outside home. genuine 300mps connection. good construction.

Need to replace an old Belkin dongle with one that could come with streaming Music and HD movies around the home.

For the price this is a very good buy. I was impressed how easy it was to set up (literally plugged it into my server and the OS picked up the drivers automatically). You receive a little CD and some paper - both went straight in the bin. My only gripe is the lid on this item took a long time (nearly lost a tooth!), and the use of a knife to eventually remove. It's a very slippery and rigid plastic lid. Once it's off don't put it back on as it doesn't get any easier to remove. I've left it plugged into my server so it's not an issue for me really - would definitely frustrate the commuter using it and removing it on a daily basis.

The speed is impressive and I'm now able to stream wirelessly around the home - so very happy about that. It feels like a solid and high quality product and the flexible aerial adds to an aesthetically pleasing design. Would recommend and buy again if I had to.
