Review

The textbook everyone who ever learnt Latin should have had, and the one that everyone who wants to learn Latin now and in the future should have. It is a model of lucidity that combines rigour with accessibility and wit. --John Clare, The Daily Telegraph

Have I mentioned how happy I am with Galore Park Latin? Because I am. Very happy. Really, really happy. --A home schooler

A splendid method for the teaching of Latin. --David Bomgardner, SATIPS

I bought this book to complement a few other beginner's books I'd already purchased. However, I quickly set the rest aside - this book is marvellous! The intricacies of Latin grammar are explained so well that the task of learning Latin is suddenly simplified beyond belief. The layout of the book is to introduce a few new points on each left hand page and then practise using them with several exceptionally well thought out exercises on the corresponding right hand page. If the exercises are all completed, the Latin will have been almost automatically programmed into your brain. Clever stuff. I would give this book 10 stars if they were available. I strongly recommend buying the accompanying book of answers, also available from Amazon, so that you can check if the exercises are correctly answered. I am enjoying this book a lot - never thought I'd say that about learning Latin!

The very best 17 Nov 2007

I am home-educating my daughter and having tried several beginner's Latin books, I have found that she is actually learning from this one. It is traditionally based with emphasis on grammar and has plenty of exercises. I wish I had had this book when I did Latin.

Started learning - re-learning - Latin to keep my OAP brain active. What an excellent introduction to the Latin language - a superb structured approach which is bound to achieve good results. Looking forward to finishing Book 1 and going on to Booka 2and 3. Many thanks, Mr Oulton. I wish I had these books fifty years ago!
