Review

'The story is prettily illustrated in soft pastels, and gently makes the point that everyone is unique and special; and that laughing at someone for being different is really rather silly. It would be particularly useful to read to any child who feels a bit 'different' -- perhaps because of a disability, or because of wearing glasses, for example -- but since, as the story points out, we all feel 'different' at one time or another, it would be a good read for any child.' -- familiesonline.co.uk 'This gentle picture book with softly coloured illustrations has a realistic depiction of playground style bullying, an obvious moral and a happy ending which leaves the bullies feeling silly.' -- www.wordpool.co.uk 'A very well-illustrated little book ... The story line will help parents to gently encourage young children to think and talk about how they see themselves and others. A positive story for parents to read with 5-7 year olds about self-acceptance; younger children will enjoy it too.' -- Youth in Mind (www.youthinmind.net)

5.0 out of 5 stars Self-esteem builder 12 Jun 2002
By Michelle L. Deblois - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This is a wonderful story- beautifully written and illustrated. Every child will feel appreciated for being different. This is a nice story for children who are being teased or taunted by peers or just to boost the self-esteem of any child who wants to feel special. It is promotes higher thinking skills by asking children rhetorical questions and giving them different points of view of the many ladybugs throughout the story. A "must have" in your collection.
