I am not a great lover of live albums or live DVDs as they dont always match up to the real thing. I was extremeley fortunate to be at the first night of his show in Dublin. The audience was really excited and emotional, it was like going to prayer (OK maybe an exaggeration) but this DVD really does capture the essence of a fantastic show(s). What was also nice to see that the audience ranged form 15/16 year olds to the older Bowie fans like myself.
This DVD delivers on all counts. No one can really complain about the songs (as you get plenty)or thier quality. From the rousing Rebel Rebel as an intro to the legeddary Ziggy Stardust at the end it's a roller coaster ride through Bowie's well known and not so well known songs. A highlight is the mighty overlooked re-worked Loving The Alien.
Like other reviewers have stated there really are so many gems on here including:
All The Young Dudes- an audience rousing of singing and general euphoria.
Under Pressure - a song I was not ever that keen on has a new dimension with the wonderful voice of Gail Ann Dorsey bowies' bassist.
Life on Mars - just sublime even now.
Heathen - how this has become an audience favourite is beyond me (dont get me wrong I love it) but its tingling.
The Reality songs hold up very welll best for me being New Killer Star.
The Man Who Sold the World as it should be played.
A truly fantastic rendition of of Sister Midnight even as good as Iggys'
The obligatory Heroes but I wouldnt have it any other way.
The Ziggy finale to top it all off. We really do get to get our cake and eat it on this one.

The DVD captures a full 140 min concert from Bowie and band enters the stage until they walk off following the last encore. The sound is excellent and the video editing has a fine balance between the documentary "being at the concert feel" and video effects.
This concert demonstrates the incredible strength of Bowie as a performer and also the strength of songs from all his periods. His performance of "Loving the Alien" shows that also songs from some of his belittled 1980s albums have terrific potential. Including some of the great songs he has written for others artists to record ("All the Young Dudes"/Mott the Hoople and "Sister Midnight"/Iggy Pop) gives you a rare opportunity to hear them performed by Bowie. "Sister Midnight" is fantastic. Recent songs like "Slip Away" and "Reality" shows that Bowie, unlike some others that have been around as long as he has, is as creative today as in the earlier years of his career. Bowie is old enough to be my dad - but what a cool dude he is! "Bring Me The Disco King" is even better in this live version than on the album.
Instead of making the concert a 'greatest hits' line-up Bowie has chosen a set that really has range from classics like "Changes", "Fame" and "Under Pressure" to less known songs like the wonderful "Fantastic Voyage" and "The Motel". The catch is that great classics like "Time", "Young Americans", "Golden Years", "Stay", "DJ", "Fashion", "Lets Dance" and "China Girl" are not included, but I think it sill makes for the more interesting and better concert.
It is hard to put your finger on something that is not good about this DVD. The only detail would be: Why is the menu music mixed so much louder than the concert itself?

The Reality tour was Bowie at his best - playing the hits and mixing them with album classics - and he performed them better than ever before, with his amazing voice in tip-top form. This DVD captures the event perfectly - the incredible breadth of Bowie's musical talent is on display here, from the heavy industrial I'm Afraid of Americans, to the classic Life on Mars? and the brilliant, jazzy, Bring Me The Disco King. If I was in a band and watched this, I'd probably give up. Brilliant.

Having been to see the Reality tour at Dublin's Point Depot, I was eager to buy this DVD but enormously surprised to find it was the very gig I attended. Having seen Bowie live nine times, this was by far the best he had ever been, truly at the top of his game, and this is reflected in the DVD which perfectly captures the excitement of the night. A great selection of numbers from the Reality and Heathen albums, some great tracks from the eighties and nineties and a nice raft of seventies classics. Standout moment though has to be the re-imagining of Loving the Alien which turns an average Bowie number into a truly great one.

This is the best DVD David Bowie has yet released! You could not ask for a better track listing on it. Bowie has performed all of the songs superbly. All of the different camera angles are perfect, and the DVD has been superbly done and created! This is a definite 'must by!'

well, as any bowie fan and also some "only-some-time-listeners" already know, listeneing to and watching this icon performing shows is an adventure. the dvd is awesome, not only because of a great sound and of course db & band's show, but its also almost a masterpiece of filming art work. some nice around playings with lights, colours, reference to old videos (e.g.Be my wife), intermezzi and its over 2 hours! just enjoy it!!!!!
