Product Description
Adobe GoLive 4.0 is a full-featured, visual Web page editor that combines powerful site management with support for a host of advanced features, from JavaScript to Flash. Such an industrial-strength program calls for an industrial-strength guide like Real World Adobe GoLive 4.0, which is packed with "under-the-hood" production tips and techniques from two experts in Web design.
This in-depth guide to creating Web sites (in Windows and Mac OS) begins with a thorough description of the GoLive interface--its dialogs, palettes, and tools. You'll learn how to create, edit, and manage your site, and get the most out of the more complex features, such as DHTML and scripting. You'll also find complete coverage of all that's new in GoLive 4.0, including tighter integration of XML and Microsoft Active Server Pages, advanced table-editing features, and the ability to edit QuickTime movies within GoLive.
From the Author
Jeff Carlson and Glenn Fleishman (authors@realworldgolive.com) For people who use the program almost every day
If you use Adobe GoLive almost every day, or need an industrial-quality Web production tool, we wrote this book for you. From users just getting started with GoLive who might have some previous HTML or visual page experience all the way to advanced JavaScript programmers who need to integrate scripts onto a page, this book provides tips and explanations of how to best use GoLive as a real-world production tool.
We serve three audiences with this book: The beginning user who needs to get up to speed on pretty much every feature - the first part of the book, GoLive Basics, is devoted to this task; the intermediate user, who knows the program reasonably well but has gaps in his or her knowledge, and needs both a reference and a tutorial guide; and the advanced user, who needs to know how the most obscure features affect their work, and how to best use DHTML animation, scripting, and style sheets.
Every user will benefit from the straightforward approach of Real World Adobe GoLive 4, as we state plainly how things work with plenty of illustrations. The book features lots of step-by-step instruction, but it's not a programmatic guide to rigid learning.
Instead, between the table of contents and the index, you should be able to rapidly find any feature or element in the program and quickly master it using the real-world approach.
