Frank turner has the power to sum up every emotion and every situation with lyrics that are on proportion with some of the greatest song writers (and probably poets) of all time.. But with a strong kick in the knackers from his punk influences!
Not only that but he intertwines it with melodies that could capture anyones heart!.

This EP has some brilliant new songs on it and "the real damage" from his debut album.
If you don't own any of his other work I recommend buying the EP "Campfire punk rock" or the album "Sleep is for the weak" first!

I can only describe him as a punk Nick Drake with the energy and attitude of Billy Bragg.. And his live shows and wonderful personality back that up.
Not only that but he's a HUGE Black Flag fan..
People like Frank Turner make the world a better place!

As an EP, the Real Damage is great. The title track is a brilliant, bouncy, lilting ode to life in London. It is both funny and poignant, and exhibits brilliantly Frank Turner's ability to create lyrics of the highest order.

It is followed by four great tracks - my favourites being Sea Legs, about the difficulties that come with Frank's passion for the road, and Heartless B***tard Motherf***er, about how frustrating it is that most people who behave inadvisably don't admit it. But both of those explanations are, of course, totally inadequate to describe the brilliance of Frank Turner. The key here is that there are four songs here which aren't available on Frank Turner's albums, and which are simply excellent. In some ways I don't think the songs here are as crisp as those included on his later releases, but in others they are just as good. If you are a Frank Turner fan, then you should probably own this. If you've never heard of him then The Real Damage as a song is the place to start, and you could do worse than own this EP!
