Product Description

Are you ready to be a great leader? What does it take and what will people expect?

As a first time leader, do you really understand why you should try to lead and not simply manage? Do you have what it takes? Do you know what people expect?  Can you make it happen every day? With Get Ready To Lead you can as it demystifies leadership and offers you practical advice to help you as you first begin to think and then act like a successful leader.

This book

  • Focuses on leading, not managing as the core theme, but applies this to the more junior management levels within organizations.

  • Translates a complex topic into an easy to follow guide, which avoids a sound-bite approach to leadership development and incorporates detailed discussions of how to do it in practice.

  • Supports the reader continuously, through the provision of practical examples, exercises and clear action steps where appropriate, culminating in an end of book personal action plan.

First time leaders face the greatest leadership challenges on a day to day basis. Make sure you’re prepared for the demands expected and know how to work them to the best advantage with this ultimate "how to" management guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Notch Tips for all levels of managers 21 Nov 2007
Format:Paperback
Having worked in a number of diverse industries as a manager, I found this book to be one of the most accessible and practical examples of leadership and management style books available. Over the years I have read numerous titles on management and leadership and I have to say that this is the first time that a book has offered me such practicable tips and examples on leadership styles and management techniques.

Not only is useful for me as a manager, but I have begun to recommend it to any up and coming or aspiring staff members who have management potential. It offers easy to read 'top tips' and case studies that can be put into practice-and the results are immediate. In addition, you don't have to have a handle on management books by other authors nor do you have to have long term management experience to understand it. There is no jargon, no buzz words and the leadership advice is easy to understand and to put into place.

I have found this book to be an invalueable 'every day' reference book for both my own work and in helping to train and develop new and potential managers in my company. Highly recommend this book for any manager who wants to improve their leadership skills!
