5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading for parents of babies and toddlers!, 13 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Mem Fox is an Australian children's author who is passionate about the benefits of reading aloud daily to young children. It is not a manual on teaching your child to read, far from it: she emphasizes not only the benefits to children's developing literacy but also the fun for everyone involved. She also has some very interesting and challenging ideas about older children who are labelled as having difficulties reading, and some practical suggestions for helping them to rediscover the magic of the written word. I have been reading aloud to my child from a very early age, and still thoroughly enjoyed this enthusiastic book which is not remotely patronising.
