This is a great hardcover reading journal. The book contains plenty of room to write reviews of the books you read (there are two pages per book). There are also sections where you can fill in quirky questionnaires designed to make you think about whether the books you have read have educated or inspired you. My favourite part of the book is a section which lists all the books that have won various literary awards (such as the Booker Prize and the Big Read). This is great if you need some reading suggestions. This book would make a great gift as it is well-made and beautifully designed.

A well designed journal to keep a record of all your reading adventures, lots of sneaky pages to record current favourite authors, genres and your all time favourites. There is a little too much room to record what subjects each book has intrigued you to research but it's easily used for notes.

I bought this as a present for a bookaholic friend and she thinks it is great.
You can make lists of your TBR books and books you want to buy as well as the books you have read.
Great product.

Excellent quality - paper of the pages is thick and the build of the journal overall is quite sturdy.

The majority of pages are devoted to the owners' reviews of books, with two (almost) A5-sized pages for each book you've read. Then after each fifth review, there's a page with quirky questions about your read books. Here you can record your favourite quotes, what places your books inspired you to visit, your best and worst movie adaptations of books, etc.

All the lists of books to read are great, and I've never seen such a comprehensive selection; it lists all of the following (up to 2009, with blank lines for you to update up till 2013):
- Pulitzer Prize winners
- Man Booker Prize for Fiction
- National Book Award for Fiction
- National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction
- Pen/Faulkner Award for Fiction
- Hemingway Foundation/Pen Award
- The Modern Library 100 Best Novels
- The Readers' List
- BBC Top 100 Reads
- Time Magazine top 100 novels
- Oprah's Book Club Picks (though since OBC stopped in 2011, the blank lines to update it up untill 2013 here are kind of odd...)

Things I'd have liked different:

You have 2 (almost)A5-sized paged devoted to each book you've read, of which one half A5 is dedicated to the data of the book ('Title', 'Author', 'Date published', 'Date read' etc.) and one and a half A5 is dedicated to your review of the book. Frankly, I think the review part is too big for each book and would have liked just 1 A5 page (instead of 2) devoted to each book, of which a half for the data and one half for your review. (That would also have doubled the amount of books you can register in this Journal - although right now you can register 48 books, which is plenty already).

I have given this as a present for 2 friends and they have loved it. It is compact and is something that they would not have considered buying for themselves. A good way to keep track of books you have read. Fill it in just after you have read the book and looking back it will take you back to how you felt at that time. I have something similar from Paperchase that I use but it is bigger and also does not contain the suggestions and lists that this one does . Great value

If you read a lot of books you may want to buy this in bulk. There is half a page for details on your book and half page for what it inspired you to read/ find out. The facing page is for you to write your review/notes/ thoughts etc.

I love the journal and it makes me want to write in it but, given the amount of space allowed per novel, I would end up with shelves filled with book journals rather than books. I am using it to log all the books that have really stood out for me, or that I want to recommend to friends and colleagues. Anything I would give 4-5 stars if reviewing for Amazon.

It looks good, feels nice in your hand and is well constructed and so will last for years.

This is an attractive hard cover journal which would make an ideal gift for a booklover. The paper inside is a good quality - thick and heavyweight, and this feels like the sort of item that could well become an heirloom. There are plenty of pages to record your thoughts about books you've read - for each book, there is a double page spread, with room to record title, author, year of publication, star rating, category, date started and finished, what the book inspired you to learn more about as well as notes. At the bottom of some of the double page spreads are book related quotations. There is room to record your thoughts on 50 books, so for me, this journal will probably last for about a year. Throughout the book, you will occasionally come across pages which ask you to consider other aspects of your reading, for example, literary pilgrimages, literary superlatives and quite a few more. There is also space at the back to keep your "To be read" list, and if you are short of inspiration, there is also a good collection of prize winners, top reads etc, such as Booker prize winners, and the BBC top 100 reads. This section is what makes me feel that this journal could do with an update as many of the lists do not go beyond 2008 or 2009. There is space to add additional items up to 2013, but that's it.
This journal would make a great present for a book lover - with an update, it would earn 5 stars from me.
