This book saved my life in MBA Financial Analysis. It starts from the first principles of "why bother?" and works up from there.

A very good overview of each of the major reports (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow), the financial items that each of them contains and how they are related. It also includes tips on what to look for (red flags) and how to interpret the numbers without assuming much prior knowledge. The layout is very logical with lots of examples.

If you are new to the subject, whether student or investor, I recommend this book as it is written in layman terms. It's very easy to read with a conversational tone unlike most tomes on Financial Analysis. If you're studying for a professional qualification, you will undoubtedly need the heavyweight texts too but this is a good intro to help overcome the initial fear of analysing Company Reports.

A good introduction to a subject many find difficult. Logically laid out, clearly and simply explained and accurate. Possibly a bit wordy to start out but it is not being entered for the Booker Prize is it?

This book does contain good information but it is a challenge to actually dig it out.
There are few examples, the layout is drab.
The book is approximately 200 pages, the first 50 pages could have been cut and would have no effect. That same ratio of waffle to good guts applies to the rest of the book.
Either the author or the publisher has forgoten that its about getting the message across not how smart the author is.
Use some different fonts, use some graphics - jazz it up.
Overall very disappointing.
