This text lives up to its name, challenge and controversy. It is recent, written by the gurus of Health Promotion and provides a distinctive UK perspective on a field of welfare that is increasingly recognised as crucial to health in individuals, communities and globally.

Bought this edition to see if I felt the OU course was for me - it was and I'm registered for next Feb but have had to purchase the 2nd Edition as so many changes between the two! It is important that students have the stated edition but if books are cheap enough, it's a good way to see what you think of the waters before you plunge in!Anyone purchasing hoping to use for the course is going to be disappointed, though!
