5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book 12 May 2012

My 8.5yr old daughter brought this home from the school library. When it had to go back, she went and found it in the local public library. When that had to go back and she was *still* reading it regularly, I bought it.
The 'hook' is, I suppose, the 'day-by-day' format - she looks up poems for each person's birthday, for today's date, etc. - which gets her reading all kinds of things. Not being particularly 'into' poetry myself I would not have expected it to be so popular, but she and all her friends love it and I think it will remain precious to her as she gets older. She now thinks of, and can quote, Blake's 'To see the world in a grain of sand' lines as hers (being her birthday date). How cool is that?

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I wanted 10 Oct 2010
Our Poem a Day book has had extreme use with my children - it is still the best selection ever - but now very tattered. So I bought Read Me out Loud. It is being well used too. Really great for a change. We have become really well aquainted with these poetry books over the last 18 months. Every visit to my sister in hospital after a car crash involves poetry - it is good for her and good for us - calming, focusing. This selection is not too childish.

The book arrived promptly. The book was said to be in good condition but I was slightly disappointed by it; the cover is creased, some of the pages have turned edges and the spine is very weak in several places.

Great book. Had everyone laughing out loud.
Many well known and others not heard before. My class enjoyed getting mum's attention.
