This game incoporates mental and physical tasks and challenges. I tried the game with adult family members to start with. Although it is quite a simple game we did enjoy it and have some real 'laugh out loud' moments during the more physical challenges. Seeing my daughter hopping around a target whilst imitating a chicken is a sight I won't forget! When we tried it with children we found that the recommended age range is about right. A six year old struggled but the nine year old loved it. Some of the question based tasks are a little tough for younger players.
The one major flaw found was that the game is not turn based which means, theoretically, if a player was skilled enough then they could complete the game with no-one else having had a turn. A simple enough solution is to ignore those instructions have each player having one throw of the dice then moving on to the next player.
Not the best game ever but certainly good for a laugh.

I got my 13 year old daughter to try this with a few of her friends. I could hear screaming and laughter coming from the dining room.
The game lasted well over 2 hours as they were laughing to long at times.
All of them said they thoroughly enjoyed the games, they found it entertaining, funny, and manic and about the best board game they had played in a long time.
They wanted to play again but it was getting late and it was a school night, so they made arrangements for the weekend.

When I and my friends had a go, of course the wine probably made it more of a Chal'enj than normal but we were laughing so hard at anyone who had to do a challenge.
I tried my hardest to keep getting out of them, as I didn't think I would be able to any right at all. The personal challenges were sometime hard and sometimes easy.
The hardest bit was at the end when you had to do 3 personal challenges in a row to win, I was useless....but perhaps if I had stop laughing I might JUST about achieved them.....lol
There are different challenges, Physical, Mental, Mystery etc...So you never know what you might get. One friend kept ending up with the ones we were trying to get out of and she enjoyed them thoroughly. There are loads of different ones so you never get bored easy. To many to mention, but it really is a thinking, all action activity game.

There is also a mega mobility mat which reminded me of twister...which i loved when i was a younger.
Then there's the Target Mat which is like a Huge Dart board that you throw discs at. Then there is the ball which you all manner of tricks with, I failed miserably with anything that had this in....lol. The timer makes sure you do your challenges in the allotted time.
Some of the Questions are really funny and I couldn't wait to see who got what each time we have to pick one up. I got one that I couldn't do due to a physical problem, so my friends allowed me to choose another one, which is probably cheating but they didn't mind. It wasn't anything hard, but I couldn't walk around on my knees due to my disability so was glad they knew it and left me off.

All in all a superb game and about something new and different had come out; something the whole family no matter the age can join in with. I can't wait for when the family come over on the weekend to have another go.

I Hope I added something different to the review that others have. And I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Chalenj (best pronounced 'Shallonge!' with a French accent) is an entertaining and funny game. It's good for family fun, children's parties, or for a drinking game. The aim of the game is to get around the board using the dice. You keep control of the dice by completing various different challenges (shallonges!). These might be naming and singing as many Abba songs or doing as many forward rolls as you can in 30 seconds. You nominate how many of the challenge you think you can do; if the person next to you thinks they can do more then they give their bid and the Chalenj glove passes round the circle. If they don't think you can make the number you stated, they throw in the glove and shout 'Chalenj!' and the fun ensues.

You can play as individuals or teams, and the variety and number of possible challenges mean the game will never be the same twice. There is plenty of scope for children to be involved, and although the number of players suggested is 2-8, you could probably play with more. The challenges come in a variety of different forms, and can be particularly funny - 'how many times can you speed-walk across the room?', 'how many times can you go from standing to lying on the floor?' - and surprisingly difficult - 'how many foods can you name and spell in 30 seconds?'

I think the game is best played in teams (where the team decides which member does each challenge), as playing as individuals means there is a lot of time when you are merely a spectator. If your team depends on someone you'll be investing a lot in how many Beyonce songs they can name and sing!

I enjoyed Chalenj a lot, and we'll definitely be playing again. It won't quite usurp Articulate as #1 game in our house, but it'll probably be top 5!
