Like many wet shavers, I'm appalled at the cost of quality multi-blades so was interested to try this out, given that it was sold at 50% off, so about £11.50 with postage. Claims of 150 'new' shaves are over-inflated but the device does prolong blade life considerably. I've used it for 6 months now. I used to stretch a blade for 3 or 4 weeks (my beard is not very thick), with daily use but now use the same blade for about 12 weeks before discarding, so maybe 90-odd shaves. So the sharpener pays for itself and starts saving money pretty quickly.

Works best with foam rather than gel shave cream.

I bought one for my son, so I'd say it's a 'buy' but if you have a heavy beard or skin that's intolerant of a anything but the sharpest blade, then you may not be so chuffed. But it's worth a go as you can save heaps.

Update: 26FEB, used over 6 months now and only on 3rd blade. So it's paid for itself quickly.

I use disposeable razors (Wilkinson Extreme 3 sensitive). I would normally get 15 shaves from it but towards the end it would be really tugging. I am now on 32 shaves and it as though I have just got it out the packet. I have however changed my shaving routine which I think also helps. These are my tips:-

1. If possible shower before shaving or apply water as hot as possible to open pores of skin (old barbers used to use hot towels).

2. Apply two drops of Baby Oil (Poundland) and rub into skin. This will have similar effect to those expesive shave oils.

3. Then apply your normal shaving gel. Due to the oil you won't get so much lather.

4. Shave with the grain of your beard then in opposite direction.

5. Use razor sharpner.

6. Dry razor thorougly (pevents oxidisation). I dry mine on towell in same way as using
the sharpner. Store in dry place, remeber bathrooms are damp places.

With the above routine I have had the closest and cheapest shave ever.

You have got to get this it really works! I have been using the same Mach3 blade for the last 2 weeks. It is not the same as when the blade cartridge is straight from the packet but there it is not much difference.

As a dedicated wet shaver I am always after the ultimate shave.
Blades are expensive.
After a few uses the blades tend to drag.
Now this is not because the blade has blunted but is often that there is a build up a hair, soap and scum especially if you live in a hard water area like I do.

The actual blades now are really fine and soon can clog up.
What this simple device does is it lets you clean the blades and bring them back to pristine use.
Now like you I was sceptical.
SO I bought and tried the device out on 4 different razors.
All had been used and tended to pull on my skin.

The 4 I used were
The latest Gillette Power Glide
The old power Glide/
Wilkinson Sword Aqua Glide
and a cheap Wilkinson Sword Disposable.

I cleaned each on the Razor Sharp using the same sized tiny blob of Shaving Gel each time and pulled the blade back 4 times with one for luck.

In all the blades produced a far smoother shave than they had before.
The outstanding razor was the Wilkinson Aquablade.
It felt better than new and in previous tests the Aquablade had always given the best results.
Now the reason for this could be that the Aqua Glide has only 4 blades compared to the Gillette's 5.
There is a bigger space between the blades.
I think this wider gap makes the cleaning more effective- hence more of the 'gunge' blunting the edges was removed.

Now to round up.
I will use this device before each shave.
I will tend to go for the wider gap blades like Wilkinson Sword in the future.
BUT this device will and does extend the life of all blades.

The trouble is that new technology when new is expensive.
The latest wet shave out usually has blades that will not fit any other razors other than the latest model etc.

So this device will pay for itself many times over.

100 per cent recommended.

This is a really odd product, it feels like a solid piece of rubber and that's all it is yet you stick a bit of shaving foam (or gel) on it and run a razor blade against it 4 times (opposite way to shaving) and it'll sharpen your blade.

It won't fetch the blade back to new condition, but it'll let you get another few weeks from the blade - which has to be a huge money saver considering the cost of Gillette Fusion blades/cartridges!

Recommended as a longer term investment - it'll certainly pay for itself in under a year

First of all delivery was exceptional, ordered on wed after 9pm and arrived on fri morning. I was a bit sceptical and not sure whether to fork out a tenner but after using it just over a month I am still using the same mach 3 blade, which was already about 3 weeks old and ready to be thrown away, so about 2months from 1 blade and still counting. Should pay for itself in no time. Only problem I can see is the moisture strip gets worn away, but thats a small price to pay.

got this last year so have used regularly, at first didn't appear to be that good, using a brand new blade, but I perceived and tried it on some old blades I save for the wife 'I know I spoil her'. after a bit of trial and error I 'cracked it' and now a blade lasts me up to four months. this doesn't sharpen the blades but works by cleaning the blades much the same way a barber's leather strop would
overall fantastic purchase and will save you a small fortune

Normally I am one who doubts and giggles at claims. However, Whilst I cannot comment on the maximum claims made for this product I can state my own experience. If you get three times the life of a blade it will have paid for itself on the life of one pack of blades. So for I have had four times my normal blade life and it still shaves me well so I am well satisfied.
