Like most men who shave using a blade, I don't like being mugged for the extortionate cost of a new blade every 6-8 shaves. As I also shave my head with a HeadBlade fitted with a Gillette Sensor cartridge, I was paying twice as much.
I'd seen this item being sold for a while & decided to give a try - it was on offer at the time. It's a strange contraption, basically a piece of silicone(?) rubber, stretched over a hard plastic base, which you use to clean your razor blade. After trying different methods with it, I find that I'm now getting about 60 shaves per blade. So that means that instead of buying approximately 100 ish blades a year, I'm only using about 15 - & at about £1.00 a blade - that's a good saving.
I use it immediately after I've used my razors & have found that it works best with hand wash gel, two squirts on the end. I use firm pressure on the cartridge & slide it six times along the pit. It took me a bit of playing around to get to this
HOWEVER - before you buy I suggest you take a look at the Razorpit website as the information given here is slightly misleading. Razorpit do not claim 150 shaves, they say a more realistic "10 - 60". Neither do they claim it will work with any blade, rather they give a compatibility list. I seem to remember that they cannot be used with blades that have "protection" wires on them.
I'm happy with it & would recommend it
