Product Description

Gear up with the right items and dive into combat fearlessly with the Razer Naga Hex MOBA and action-RPG gaming mouse. Instead of the award-winning 12-button thumb grid MMO gamers have come to love with the Razer Naga, the Razer Naga Hex features 6 large thumb buttons optimized specifically for MOBA and action-RPG user interfaces. Spells, abilities, and items from these games can be mapped directly onto the 6 thumb buttons for extraordinary game control. Validated with some of the top MOBA pro-gamers in the world, the Razer Naga Hex’s 6 thumb buttons are designed in a mechanical key infrastructure to provide faster key actuation. This gives you the edge to attack quicker than enemies can react, necessary to winning in high-pressure battle arenas. Harass the enemy, farm end-bosses, and hack n’slash for longer in comfort with the ergonomic curved design of the Razer Naga Hex, as designed by some of the world’s top ergonomic engineers. This gaming mouse has proven to minimize fatigue during extended periods of play whether at home or at competitive tournaments. The Razer Naga Hex is powered by the revolutionary Razer Synapse 2.0 service, a cloud based software pioneered by Razer, designed to store your personal mouse settings and preferences on remote servers so that they are accessible to you anytime, anywhere. From the makers of the world’s most powerful MMO gaming weaponry comes the world’s most powerful MOBA/action-RPG gaming mouse. Get Imba!

Razer built this mouse for the MOBA/Action RPG user in mind. They stripped down the original Naga's thumb buttons from a dozen and replaced them with 6 very comfortable mechanical buttons. This number of buttons is perfect for me as I don't really play MMOs any more and don't need quite that many buttons squished together in a small space.

As with the Naga Epic, they also moved the 2 forward thumb buttons under the mouse wheel. There's a useful switch under the mouse that lets you toggle the set of 6 thumb buttons between '1-6' or 'numpad'. This gives users even more options when setting up for their games.

The mouse texture is slippy, which probably isn't everyone's cup of tea. I find both pros and cons for the rubberised/matte and slippy textures. The matte ones end up with slippy spots after being rubbed on for too long and tend to feel gummy after a while. The slippy texture on the other hand ends up with dirt smears but that is easily fixed with a wipe down or just regular housekeeping.

Some thoughts on the Synapse software: It has profile switching, which means you can have different key bindings for different scenarios. The problem right now is that the software isn't completely intelligent. For example, if I launch Game X and alt-tab out, it still notices that Game X is running, but not necessarily the active window and still uses said game's mouse bindings. This can get very annoying very quickly depending on how you've set your bindings up. I'd be surprised if this isn't fixed already or getting fixed very soon.

My only complaint for the mouse is the pricing. We struggle enough with the VAT mark up on most our tech items, but 30% more than the RRP is a little excessive.

The Hex uses a Phillips twin-eye sensor and like many of these sensors has a "feature" that is sometimes called "dynamic dpi scaling", which cannot be disabled at this time.

What this "feature" does is drop the DPI at low movement speed and so makes precision work a bit hit and miss. In a game if you turn fast then unless you land bang on your target there is a chance that when you then try to move the last few pixels the DPI will have dropped and so you might have to move further than you would have thought to close the gap.

I cannot use a mouse that has unpredictable movement, no matter how good the rest of it is, so back it went.

This isn't the first time I have been caught out by buying a mouse with this "feature", and I did give it every chance to see if I could get used to it even though I have experience of not being able to get used to it on other mice. I now know to avoid any mice with a Phillips twin-eye. Having been caught out by three mice with it, hopefully it won't happen again.

One other note, it is a small mouse. I don't even have that large hands yet it felt a little too small for comfort. So there is that to consider, even if you can get used to the DPI feature.

Although people poked negatives towards this mouse i went for it anyway, and im grad i did. I read before buying this that the gloss finish became slippery over long play time and the 6 buttons on the side were too reactive and easy to hit. The first is just bollocks, as how slippery the mouse becomes is based solely on how much you sweat. I haven't found a slippery mouse to be a problem so far :P. I will admit the 6 quick buttons were strange in the beginning, but after a week of casual gaming I was pretty competent with them. The reactiveness of the buttons is great, as when im playing MOBA's and shooters i want to have lots of control with little effort and so selecting an ability or picking a weapon is very quick and requires little thought. The shape of the mouse is also very nice, I don't exactly have huge hands, but the design fits very nicely into my hand. The lead also has a braided covering, giving me the impression that it will last. Lastly this mouse is a good weight, as i hate really light mice.

All in all, if your a MOBA, FPS or RTS i would recommend this mouse to you. :D

I bought this for GW 2 an action RPG, its a great product but is by no means perfect the buttons 4, 5, 6 and the two above the scroll wheel are hard to use unless your double jointed. The saving grace is the fact that action RPGs work on a timer so thankfulling you rarely need to use them, I have found that using the the 4 and 6 is easiest to use with the 5 been harder but still useable, however the 2 buttons above the scroll wheel are useless.

Overall a great mouse could be better but does what it says on the tin and well worth the money if like me you like you have RSI and prefer the option to alternate hands.

Final note its very comfortable in the hand to use.
