Let's face it, unlike mice gaming keyboards really don't add a whole deal to your gaming performance. Yes, the anti-ghosting feature is a handy one (Note it's only present on the WASD keys) but the performance gain from the increased polling rate is minimal.
My last KB blew up so I needed something to replace my 9.99 Microsoft one (Which was fine actually fine). I don't have much desk real estate and I don't really care for rows and rows of extra keys. As with any peripheral, you like it to look good. To my eyes the mirror finish is stunning, the backlight looks amazing (Although I don't really need to see the keys to hit the right ones) and the KB as a whole looks very well designed and put together.
So, on to the list of things I found useful to have read when buying (Or would have in some cases).
The keypress is similar to a laptop keyboard, quite short and the buttons seem quite flat. It will take you a little bit of time to get used to typing with it. I find the buttons very comfortable.
Pros:
Backlight is good.
Keyboard looks astonishing.
Software works perfectly for setting up macros (I'm on Vista 64, no issues).
Not a giant Keyboard, fits well onto my desk without taking up much more room than a normal KB (I took the wrist rest off).
Packaging is typically Razer, excellent and comes with a cloth so you can wipe down the keys).
Touchpad works very well, comes with built in support for Winamp etc. (I've never had a problem with using the touchpad but some people have, maybe fat hands? =D).
Did I mention it looks astonishing?
Has USB2 extender so you can use the port on the KB as full speed USB2 port for memory sticks and what have you. It also has audio extenders so you can plug your mic/headphones into it.
Cons:
Buttons do make quite a loud clicking noise compared to other keyboards.
It will collect fingerprints and grease! - I don't really class this as a con because I fully expected to have to clean it. You won't really notice the fingerprints most of the time in normal light, but if the sun catches it you'll be able to see them in their messy glory (Where the cloth comes in).
All in all I'm very glad I bought it. I love the minimal design and it doesn't suffer from any of the software issues of the first Lycosa keyboards. But if you want a keyboard you'll never have to clean, this ain't it =D
