5.0 out of 5 stars A great mouse....BUT; 27 Oct 2011
By Qitarah
A bit of a long story but I guess I always read these things and find them generally helpful so here we go!

Firstly let me start out by saying that throughtout my gaming years I'v always used razer mice.

I started with a 1st gen Lachesis, it lasted two years before wear and tear got it. - Excellent mouse.

I had a copperhead after that (was just ridden with issues from day one). - Terrible :(

I Recently purchased this mouse, the Razer lachesis refresh. I was quite excited to get back to the lachesis, its a more comfortable fit than the copperhead (for me), although I'm sure some people will find it not to taste.

The high DPI, well sure its nice. But I just dont see many using such a high amount, without multiple screens with an eyefinity setup or such. With 5600 DPI activated, I was having to use 3rd from lowest windows sensitivity setting and it was still too fast.

The major problem I have had with this mouse is that my particular mouse is plagued with an issue were by every so often (can be every 2 mins, or every 2 hours) it will just totally become non-responsive. As in the buttons and any movement just freezes up. The only thing that will fix this is plugging it into a different USB port.

Im awaiting a replacement for this defective one, upon which I can write a more objective view. For now though its gets 1 star. :(

*edit*

Upon getting the replacement, I have to say so far (4-5-6 months or so) I'v had zero issues, its a good mouse.

4.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed with this mouse :( 26 Jan 2012
I am a serious online gamer and previously had the Razer Copperhead.
I wish I had bought another Copperhead.
This mouse keeps freezing in the middle of a game and there has been NO software updates to resolve this issue.
The thumb buttons on the Lachesis are just too close to the left mouse click for my liking compared to the Copperhead.
What I mean by this is they need to be lower down on the body of the mouse.

Do yourself a favour and buy the Razer Copperhead ... I far superior mouse in my opinion.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good mouse, bad price 8 Jan 2011

If you're after a good gaming mouse, first thing I would suggest is have a really good look around if you're gonna spend this kinda money. I managed to get this one on offer for just short of £30 and for that price I was pleased. But if you can't get it for alot less than the rrp there are definitely better options.

Those with small hands beware, while I wouldn't describe the Lachesis as a big mouse it is quite long. To be honest it could have done with being about 1cm shorter which wouldn't have been to the detriment of people with bigger hands but certainly would have helped the comfort of those with smaller hands. It's still comfortable to use but after extended use it can make your fingers ache as you have to grip it a bit tighter to press the traditional buttons further back where the moulding is stiffer. It also makes the scroll wheel a bit harder to reach. Also, being an ambidextrous mouse the design seems more prone to drift slightly up or down in an arc when you move it horizontally, although it's not hugely noticeable.

The mouse has 2 additional buttons on each side, the front 2 are positioned on the top curve and the back 2 are on the curve at the back. I found the back 2 pretty easy to use, especially the one on the left which feels quite natural to press with your thumb. And because your pushing it down and backwards the mouse doesn't move as your palm or wrist prevent it. But the front 2 buttons are harder to reach, force an unnatural movement of your thumb and pushing in makes the mouse move forward too much as it forces the momentum forward. If all the side buttons were on the rear curve it would have been so much easier to use.

Overall, a good quality mouse if you can get it at a decent price but I really can't recommend it for the normal price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money 17 Jan 2013

Not durable at all. Broke down due to clicks after almost a year, which is unacceptable for a gaming mouse. It is not ergonomic for people with short hands either. It should be shorter.

I am very happy, that at least i got a replacement from amazon though, thanks to their excellent service.

When this mouse works, it is amazing...however mine has had alot of problems with it freezing and becoming unresponsive. To solve this problem I have to unplug it and then plug it back into its USB connector. Pretty annoying.

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid if you use Mac OSX 11 Dec 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
Don't bother with this USB mouse if you're on Mac OSX.

Using either Steermouse or USB Overdrive to configure the 9 buttons doesn't work due to vendor specific shortcuts in the USB standard.

All I got from the Lachesis was an annoying acceleration and a frustrating evening of trying everything to configure it.

Avoid.

5.0 out of 5 stars My best mouse ever 17 Sep 2012

Was looking for a really good and sensitive mouse not only for gaming but also for my work, and this one do its job perfectly. Ha issues with the keys on the side the mouse due to my hand but was able to disable some buttons, and possibility of changing colors as well as sensitivity of the mouse related to what software I currently sing is a really nice thing as I dont need a sensitive mouse when I doing a video but i need a sensitive one when I do graphic or play some games, and instead going to options each time I set up the command which always change the sensitivity of the mouse depend what software I using. My best mouse I got so far.
