Product Description

Product Description

The Razer BlackWidow’s mechanical key technology provides a distinctive tactile feedback in form of a light pronounced tap to your fingers giving you an entirely new feel on your keyboard. With its optimized actuation force of 50g and a reduced actuation distance of 2 mm the Razer BlackWidow’s keys allow you to actuate your commands faster than on any other standard gaming keyboard. Actuate as many keys as there are fingers on both your hands and have them all register accurately and quickly during gaming. With the Razer BlackWidow’s gaming mode 10 key roll-over, you can deliver overwhelming destruction on your opponents, or just ensure every command is executed perfectly for victorious gaming. Razer Synapse 2.0 is cutting-edge intuitive proprietary software that functions as the Razer BlackWidow’s brain – automatically syncing the keyboard to a cloud server to download driver and firmware updates, as well as save individual gamer settings like keybinds and macros without you needing to lift a finger.

over view: the board and keys are made of a tough feeling plastic, the cable is covered with a braided fiber to protect it from damage and the mechanical keys give a very positive and tactile feed back. i bought this keyboard primarily for gaming but typing on it is so easy and smooth that it would also be perfect for and office or home environment. as for the price, some people could say that it is a lot to pay for a keyboard with not a massive range of features, but that is one of the reasons that i like it is that it is easy to use and not cloged up with features but gives you the ones that you really need, also i feel that due to its high quality feel that it will easily last long enough to make up for the price.

the keys: they are smooth and easy to press and, in my opinion, have very good spacing (the distance between each key is just right to type with).

the features: this keyboard has an easy access usb pass through and headphone and mic pass though on the right hand side of the board. there are five programable macro keys and there are also some media keys on the F keys.

pros:
mechanical keys (more robust and tactile feel)
easy to use macro keys
braided cable
robust and 'weighty' feel
razer product (more likely to be well made and so last longer)
sleek design (if you want to call it that)
usb and audio pass though

cons:
some could say that it is over priced, but i think it is going to be worth it.

EDIT: a few months down the line with no complaints. only thing i noticed was that you can definitely tell when you've pressed the keys and so does everyone else! the click is pretty loud, i don't mind because i have a unidirectional mic that cuts it out, but if you don't like the sound and don't mind a US lay out then there is always the silent version that doesn't click like a typewriter.
overall very happy

Moving from a membrane keyboard to a mechanical one was like having my hands kissed by angels. If you are worried that it is too much money and might not be worth it, don't be, this is one damn fantastic keyboard.

This is the first mechanical keyboard I have bought, after doing some research, this seemed like the best option for me. Even though the LED under the Razer logo is green and doesnt match any of the other lights on my rig.

None the less, the keyboard itself came a lot earlier than expected, it feels amazing to type on, the Cherry MX Blues feel perfect for me.
It will take some getting used to after only using membrane keyboards my entire life, but I feel that the product will be amazing to work with once I am used to it.

I bought this product in preparation for going to University where I will be doing a lot of programming and I can foresee this getting a lot of use. Only time will tell if it stands the test of time, and the rage, of a programmer

All in all, this feels like a good product to work with after taking a bit to get used to. The product was delivered quickly and with the box in very good condition.

The only way I would've given this 5/5 would be if it had an extra USB port or changeable LED colours.

NOTE: Anyone buying the UK layout version, yes this is the version with the £ on the 3 key, the # next to the enter and so on, even though the pictures do not show it. Here is an image of mine: http://i.imgur.com/W9mud2o.jpg

It feels so responsive and easy to type with, however like some have said before touch typing is a little weird for me since there are macro keys instead of the end of the keyboard, but it only takes a glance on the keyboard to know where my fingers are, so that's not really a problem.

Pros:
-As I did not get this keyboard from Amazon I will put down the price as a pro since it was only for £60 and for a Razer Mechanical Keyboard I consider that a bargain.
-Braided cable, keeps all the wires neat, and not in a multiple wired mess.
-Mechanical keys feel tactile and more responsive than the K120 (My previous Keyboard)
-Great responsive feeling whilst gaming, and am not limited by 4 consecutive key presses, which was an annoyance when playing an FPS shooter online, I would get stuck in one place, and not be able to move unless I let go of a button and press the WASD buttons again, well not anymore.

Cons:
-None as of yet, since I have just recently received the keyboard.

The keyboard does have the ability to light up the Razer Logo, which is kind of cool.

The pictures are not of the actual product, since they are of the US layout, if you buy the UK layout, that is precisely what you will get, and I for one am glad this is the case, I was dreading getting a smaller enter button since I was used to the bigger one, but my worries were allayed as I saw the big enter button, and a smaller shift button that in the pictures. the "@" button is also in the right place instead of on the the number "2".
