Great piece of kit 8 Aug 2010
By Kelv
This Raynox DCR-150 Is a great piece of kit for those with a DSLR starting out in Macro Photography on a tight budget ( a dedicated macro lens being over £200. It simply attaches to your standard lens, enabling you to get a lot closer to your subject. I use it with my Nikon D5000 AND 55-200mm lens, sometimes with a tripod, sometimes without, with good results. As long as the natural light is reasonable, you don't need a flash either. Wish I could add a photo to show how well it works.

I've just bought a DCR150 to use with my Canon 350D. It's a simple lens which clips onto the front of whatever lens you use on your camera. I've used it with both the standard 18-55mm lens which came with the camera and a Tamron 90mm macro lens. The clip on adaptor is simple and will fit on just about any lens, so don't worry about that when buying. The effect is to increase the magnification enough that you will be able to capture much closer images than ever before in excellent detail. With the Tamron lens I can now get close ups of flies eyes and tiny insects. Startling stuff! For thirty quid I think that this is the best accessory I've bought or the camera. Two things to consider when buying are these: 1. Do you have a god flash gun? it's possible with a flash to do handheld macro shots with this attachment, but impossible without. 2. A tripod enables you to take full advantage of the magnification without flash, so look t adding a tripod to your kit if you don't already have one.

Great price and a good way to start macro and closeup photography.

Plugged this onto the front of my zoom kit lens, easy to focus and use even when handheld. Got beautiful crisp sharp pictures. This is way better than cheap closeup filters.

Another bonus, works on pretty much any camera with a lens filter screw. Just squeeze the wierd looking sides and in it goes, dead easy to take on and off!
